BETTY ROBINS

WILLIAMSTON—Betty Tribble Chapman Robins, 82, widow of George Howard Robins, died Saturday, August 1, 2015.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Judson Calhoun and Sadie Belle Wilson Tribble. A graduate of Honea Path High School, she had formerly worked for Whirlpool Corporation and was a co-owner of Roberds Furniture Company, both in Atlanta. A member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, she was an avid horse lover and enjoyed raising and showing Tennessee Walking Horses.

Surviving are her daughter, Pamela Chapman Jordan (Keith) of Williamston; son, Doug Chapman (Ann) of Williamston; sisters, Sandra Tucker of Williamston, Ruby McMinn of Anderson; brother, Carroll Tribble of Belton; grandchildren, Hagan and Adam Jordan, Kelly Bridwell and Cain Chapman; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by sister, Ernestine Holland; brothers, Manuel, Bobby Ray and William Tribble.

Visitation was held Tuesday, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. The funeral followed at 3:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial was held at Forest Lawn Mausoleum.

MARY HUTCHINS

Mary Hutchins died Thursday, July 23, 2015.

A memorial service was held Sunday, August 2 in Piedmont.

TRACEY BISHOP

Tracey Spearman Bishop, 41, of Pelzer, died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at her home.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Ralph James Bishop, Jr. and Barbara Ann Spearman Bishop of Pelzer.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Madison Lee Bishop of the home; brothers, Ralph James Bishop, III of Athens, GA, and Jeffrey Vance Bishop of Pelzer; and sister, Whitney Lee Bishop of Pendleton.

A graveside service was held Tuesday at Chapel at Beulah Cemetery.

CARDOZA F. BIGBY “BROTHER”

Cardoza F. Bigby, age 92, of Washington, DC, died Saturday, July 18, 2015. He was the husband of the late Lillian C. Bigby.

Born in Williamston, Anderson County, he was the son of the late Cardoza F. Bigby, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Moore Bigby Hodge.  He retired as the first African-American Chief, Printing Operations Division, US Department of Agriculture.

Survivors include children Deborah B. Jones (Dennis), of Washington, DC and Charles J. Greenfield, of Oxon Hill, MD; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Vernita C. Greenfield, of Washington, DC and a host of other relatives and friends.

Family will receive visitors on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. until time of Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 3800 Ely Place, SE, Washington, DC.

MYRTLE JANE MAYNARD ESTEP

Myrtle Jane Maynard Estep, 80, of Williamston, SC, formerly of Dunlow, WV was born May 9, 1935 in Dunlow, WV. She passed away July 31, 2015. She is the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Maynard and Donna Perry Maynard.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, William “Bubby” Estep; sons, Freddie Maynard, Keith Maynard; daughter, Donna Jane Estep, Charlotte Maynard; brothers, Walter Maynard, George Ulla Maynard, and Kenneth Ralph Adkins.

Surviving are brother, James Ronnie Maynard, and wife Enemercy P. Maynard of Williamston, SC; sisters, Jean Eva Mae Maynard of Wayne, WV, Joye Ann Meade and John Dog Meade of Dunlow, WV, Tootsie Maynard of Wayne, WV; sons, John F. Estep and Maryann of Williamston, SC, Lonnie Maynard and Sherry of Pataskala, OH, Charles Estep and Connie of Cambridge, OH, Rick Estep and Diane of Ohio; daughters, Alberta Gail Estep of Riverview, FL, Kolleen Jane Estep of Cambridge, OH, Vanessa M. Fellion of Williamston, SC, Special friends, Steve and Tina Hardy, Dave and Lucille King, Joyce Nelson, Mike Webb, Brandon Smith, Rich-Colonial of Anderson, SC is in charge. No services are planned.

CLARA I FINLEY

Clara I Finley, of 3 Dora St, Pelzer, Born on January 24,1940, passed away at her home early Sunday morning. She was predeceased by her husband, William Lonzo Finley II.

Surviving are her 5 children, Roseine Reese of Pelzer, Vickie Evans (David) of Piedmont, Denise Rinehart (Doug) of Piedmont, Lori Steifle (Ernest) of Ware Place, and Billy Finley (Beth) of Piedmont. Her 10 grandchildren, April (Brian), Amanda (Alex), Dannis (Tiffany), Wanda, Josh (Jessica), Dewayne, Chris, Candie (of the home, caregiver) (Ross), Heather (Earl), and Brandon. Her 12 great Grandchildren, Alex, Elizabeth, Christine, Mary-Jade, Rose, William, Kaylin, Ashlee, Will, Austin, John-Ross, and Loie. Also she is predeceased by her great grandbaby, Isabel.

Visitation was held Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 5pm – 8pm at the home, and graveside services were held at Greenville Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 2:00pm. The family is at the home.

CHARLES RHODES

Charles Ferrel Rhodes, 44, of Greenwood, husband of Jennifer Ravencraft Rhodes, died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Union, he was a son of Donald and Judy England Rhodes.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of Cedarwood Community Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home, mother of Pelzer; father and step-mother, Sonya Rhodes of Greenwood; two sons, Tanner Ginn and Alex Rhodes of Greenwood; two sisters, Rhonda Cantrell of Greenwood and Marilyn Morrone of NC; four brothers, Richard Rhodes of Laurens, Kelly Jordan of Greenwood, Kim Jordan of Greenwood, and Keith Jordan of Cross Hill; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Cedarwood Community Church. Burial followed at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson.

MARY JACKSON

PELZER – Mary Lou Williams Jackson, 84, wife of the late Clarence Baker Jackson, died Monday, August 3, 2015.

Born in Clifton, TN, she was the daughter of the late Gene “Bub” Williams, Jr. and Maude Smith Yarbro. She was an active member of White Plains Baptist Church and the McCoy-Trotter Sunday School Class.

Survivors include special daughter-in-law, Connie Jackson of Greer; special sister-in-law, Mary Ann Gambrell of Lawrenceburg, TN; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by sons, Thomas V. and Mike Jackson; grandson, Tommy Jackson.

Visitation was from 1:30 to 3:00 pm Wednesday, August 5 at White Plains Baptist Church. The service followed at 3:00 pm. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to White Plains Baptist Church Building Fund, 1435 Easley Highway, Pelzer, SC 29669.

The family will be at respective homes.

JAMES WALTER ‘JIM’ METZ, III

James Walter “Jim” Metz III, 53, of Pelzer, died Friday, July 24, 2015.

Born in Gainesville, FL, he was the son of James Walter Metz, Jr. of Boynton Beach, FL and the late Marcia Mary Freeman Metz. He was an electrician.

In addition to his father, he is survived by four daughters, Nicole Metz Hall of Lawndale, CA, Branka Metz of Cleveland, GA, Mary Metz of Clarkesville, GA, and Christine Metz Hirschi of Cleveland, GA; brother, William Metz of West Columbia; three sisters, Suzanne Metz of Anderson, Melissa Metz Wright of Coeur D’ Alene, ID, and Jennifer Metz of Anderson; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Wednesday in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home.
