JAMES STEVE BROWN

James Steven Brown, 65, of Greenville, husband of Sandra Kay Fletcher Brown, died Thursday, August 27, 2015.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Roger Bryan and Margaret Irene Spearman Brown. He retired from General Electric and was a member of Reedy River Missionary Baptist Church, Greenville.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Dawn Stone of Belton; stepchildren, Troy Arnold of Greenville and Cory Chappell of Clayton, NC; brother, Roger Bradley Brown of Pelzer; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 29 at Reedy River Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

HAZEL JONES

Hazel Marie Trammell Jones, 92, of Piedmont, wife of the late Milton Edwin Jones, died Wednesday, August 26, 2015.

Born in Atlanta, GA, she was a daughter of the late Erby and Maude Trammell. She retired from J.P. Stevens in Piedmont. She was a member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by son Roger Edwin Jones of Lynchburg, VA; brother, Guy Thomas Trammell of Piedmont; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Thursday, September 3 at Piedmont Presbyterian Church.

Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

PEARL BURTON

Pearl Gilbert Burton, 63, of Piedmont, wife of David Ray Burton, Jr., died Wednesday, August 26, 2015.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Roy Lang and Addie Lee Sanders Gilbert.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are children, Cathy Denise Tinsley of Anderson, Anthony “Tony” Tinsley of Pendleton, Jeff Tinsley of Pelzer, Robert David Burton of Pelzer, Angela Burton Smith of Pelzer; brother, Harold Gilbert of Pendleton; sisters, Connie Chandler of Anderson and Helen Suda of Trenton, Michigan; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Saturday at Emmanuel Full Gospel Tabernacle. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

BETTY SAUCIER

Betty Louise Holmes Saucier, 79, of Pelzer, wife of Edward “Eddie” Saucier, Jr., died Friday, August 28, 2015.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Lucille Smith Holmes.   She was a homemaker and attended the Ware Place Church of God.

Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are sons, Richard W Saucier of the home, Dwayne R. Saucier of Pelzer, Ronald Lee Saucier of Pelzer; brother, Marvin Wesley Holmes of Easley; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at Tuesday, September 1, at the Ware Place Church of God.  Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

“RONNIE” GREER

PIEDMONT – Thomas Ronald “Ronnie” Greer, Sr., 77, husband of Edith Marian Wilson Greer, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015.

Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late Andrew Donald and Hazel Elizabeth Hollingsworth Greer.  He was retired from Greenville County.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are son, Terry Ronald Greer (Donna) of Hartwell, GA; daughter, Sandra Hiscott (Mark) of Pelzer; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; special aunt, Christine Payne; special cousin, Jimmy Davis.

He was predeceased by two sons, Thomas Ronald Greer, Jr. and Randy Greer; brothers, Harold Greer and Charles “Chick” Greer; sister, Patricia Greer Barbre.

Visitation was held from 3-4 pm Sunday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The service followed at 4 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery, Piedmont.

The family will be at the home of Sandra and Mark Hiscott, 360 Old Brickyard Road, Pelzer.

ODELL LOWE

Odell Lowe, 74, of Belton, died Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Jule and Ossie Hanley Lowe.

He was of the Baptist faith and was a self-employed contractor.

Surviving are two sons: Don Lowe and Lannie Lowe, both of Belton; two brothers, Tommy Lowe and Noah Lee Allen, both of Belton; three sisters, Rachel Magaha of Pelzer, Lillie Wilson of Belton, and Edith Higdon of Arlington, VA; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Tuesday at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

“TONY” GUTHRIE

Wilton Anthony “Tony” Guthrie, 59, of Pelzer, died Sunday, August 30, 2015.

Born in Williamston, he was the son of Betty Jane Chapman Guthrie Kellett and the late Wilson Harvey Guthrie.

He was formerly employed with L’oreal and a member of New Spring Church.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, James Kellett of Williamston; fiancée, Cyndi Jones of the home; daughter, Kara Roberts of Piedmont; sister, Wanda Sutherland of West Pelzer; step-brother, Butch Kellett of Fork Shoals; step-sister, Patsy Pitts of Greenwood.

The funeral service was held Wednesday in the funeral home chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

DENNIS GENE TAYLOR

Dennis Gene Taylor, 61, of Bessinger City, NC, passed away on August 26, 2015.

He was the son of the late Margaret Lister Davis of Easley and Jack Taylor of Gastonia, NC.

Survivng is his sister, Anne Taylor Earnest of Williamston.

A private service will be held at a later date.

MICHAEL BLASSINGAME

Michael Blassingame, of Piedmont, died Wednesday, August 26, 2015.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, Sept. 2 at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Pinedale Memorial Park.

STEPHEN EARLE TAYLOR

Stephen Earle Taylor, 64, died Friday, August 28, 2015.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of Emma Faye Taylor and the late Floyd Earle Taylor.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired as a lineman for BellSouth.

Surviving in addition to his mother are daughter, Anna Campbell of Taylors; sons, Jason Taylor of Greenville and Alex Taylor of Taylors; sisters, Barbara Kullman of Piedmont and Karen Goodwin of Greenville; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 3 from 12 to 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

REV. LARRY MORRIS

Rev. Larry Anderson Morris, 78, of Pelzer, died Saturday, August 29, 2015 at his home.

Born in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Clell Rueben “C.L.” Morris and Lottie Thompson “Tommie” Sanders Morris.

He was a retired Baptist Minister serving in churches in Hartwell, GA, Darlington, Bowman, GA, Honea Path, and Shelby, NC.

Surviving are his wife, Carol Hilley Morris; two sons, Tim Morris and Rev. Mike Morris, both of Pelzer; daughter, Dawn Whitlock of Greenville; five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sept. 1 at Washington Baptist Church in Pelzer. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery, Hartwell, GA.

MILDRED ‘BOBBIE’ BOITER

PELZER – Mildred “Bobbie” Wavleen Owens Boiter, 71, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015.

Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Henry Owens, Sr. and Selma Louise Martin Owens. She retired from Bell South and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

She is survived by daughter, Tammie Meares Bradley (Tony J.) of Pelzer; brother, R.H. Owens, Jr.; grandchildren, Christie Bradley Chastain of Hixson, TN and Christopher Owens Bradley (Alice) of Simpsonville; great-grandchildren, Aubrie Taylor Chastain, Chloe Elizabeth Chastain and Atticus McLeod Bradley.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Friday at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
