Homesteading Festival organizer Rebecca McKinney said the event may have had as many as 6,000 people attend this year.

“We had people who drove in from an hour and a half or two hours away who said that the festival was well worth the drive,” McKinney said. “It’s being recommended on other Facebook pages, and new vendors already are contacting us about having booths and teaching. We’ve had rave reviews.”

McKinney said that in addition to a lot of people from out of town, the festival, now in its third year, drew people from the local community as well.

“What means the most is that our local community loved it, too,” McKinney said. “There’s something special about the park and the group of people who support the farmers market. Their spirit is contagious!”

The event, sponsored by the SC Organization for Organic Living (SCOOL), the Palmetto Farmers Market and The Town of Williamston was held in conjuction with a Volkswagen Camp Out and Show.

“The Creekside VW Camp Out and Show was the perfect partner for the festival. Festival attendees loved seeing the VWs and meeting the owners, and the VW crowd enjoyed attending the festival.”
