HAZEL REID MATTISON, EVIE L. BAILEY, WESTON DAN ELLISON, STEVE TUCKER, JAMES ROGER BLAKELY, SR.

HAZEL REID MATTISON

Hazel Reid Mattison, 95, of Anderson, died Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Hospice of the Upstate.

She was married to the late Edgar Hubert Mattison, Jr. and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Pearlie Thompson Reid. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Williamston. She retired from Anderson Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by children, Darryl J. Mattison of the home, Freda A. Brock of Anderson, Harlan M. Mattison of Greenville, and Mary C. Reid-Ellis of Williamston; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Arthur Reid, Jr. and Marcus Reid of Williamston.

Funeral service was held Saturday, Sept. 26 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Burial followed at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

EVIE L. BAILEY

Evie L. Bailey, 90, of Piedmont, died September 22, 2015 at Hosanna Nursing Home in Piedmont.

She is survived by a son, Larry Lewis; three daughters, Marvelene “Marti” Yates, Marilyn Henderson, and Miriam Whiten; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Simpsonville.

A graveside service was held Friday, Sept. 25 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

WESTON DAN ELLISON

Weston Dan Ellison, 77, of Fountain Inn, husband of Carleen Suttle Ellison, died Saturday, September 26, 2015.

Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Clyde Livingston and Annie Ruth Ferguson Ellison.

He was retired from Michelin, was a veteran of the National Guard, and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Robin Ellison, Jeffery Ellison, Weston Dan Ellison II, and Mark Morgan; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 30 at Cannon Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Cannon Memorial Park.

STEVE TUCKER

Steve Walter Tucker, 69, of Williamston, husband of Sandra Tribble Tucker, died Friday, September 25, 2015.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Lillie and Hugh Tucker. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and owned and operated Steve’s Auto Parts in Belton and was employed with Anderson Auto Parts.

He is survived by his wife, son, Craig Tucker; two grandchildren; brothers, Rev. Early and George Tucker of Anderson; and sister, Nancy Tucker of Liberty.

Funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 28 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

JAMES ROGER BLAKELY, SR.

James Roger Blakely, Sr., 97, husband of Carolyn B. Blakely and longtime resident of the Ora Community, passed away Monday, September 28, 2015, at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community.

Born in Ora, he was a son of the late William Bufort and Nannie Thompson Blakely.

A 1939 graduate of Clemson University, Mr. Blakely served as a Captain in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. He was a retired teacher, having taught science in Prosperity and Laurens County and enjoyed farming and raising cows. He was a life-long member and elder of Ora ARP Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He is survived by his children, Roger Blakely, Jr. and wife Myong of Harper Heights, TX, Nancy Blakely Glenn of Irmo, SC, Charles Blakely and wife Nancy of Pelzer, and Dale Blakely and wife Elizabeth of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, J.T. Blakely, Steven Blakely, Michael Blakely, Amy Reid (Mark), David Glenn, Caroline Wood (Gabe), and Valerie Blakely; and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Mason.

In addition to his parents and siblings, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Anne Blakely.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015, at Ora ARP Church conducted by Rev. Sam Roper and Rev. Bill Blakely with burial in the church cemetery.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends in the Ora ARP Fellowship Hall one hour prior to the service.
