Former B-HP football standout fatally shot in NC

A former standout football player at Belton-Honea Path High School was fatally shot early Sunday morning on campus at Winston-Salem State University in NC. Anthony White Jr., 19, a standout football player at Belton-Honea Path High School graduated from BHP in 2014.

According to reports, White was shot at approximately 1:20 a.m. in a parking lot at the university. Another student who was also shot was treated and released. Authorities were looking for a suspect who is not believed to be a student at the school, a historically black university in Winston-Salem.

White holds a BHP school rushing record of 409 yards in a game against Wren. He transferred to BHP from a high school in Charlotte before his junior year. As a senior tailback, he ran for more than 1,200 yards.
