GCSO asks assistance in idendifying vehicle/suspect

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the public and the media to identify the vehicle or individual pictured in this security video. This vehicle was involved in an incident around 3:30am on 03/08/16 at the Dollar General. During the incident a deputy was struck by the vehicle shown here. The Dollar General is located at 9538 Augusta Rd in Pelzer. The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident that occurred early Tuesday morning in which a shot was fired at a suspect at the Dollar General located at 9538 Augusta Road, Pelzer. According to reports, around 3:45 a.m. this morning, while on routine patrol along the Augusta Road corridor in South Greenville County, the deputy encountered a suspect attempting to break into a secured cage containing propane tanks at Dollar General. The deputy verbally engaged the suspect who then ran to a newer model, dark color truck. As the suspect fled the scene, he intentionally struck the deputy with his vehicle. The deputy fired at least one shot at the truck as it fled towards Augusta Rd. At this time, it is unknown if the suspect or his vehicle was hit. The deputy was transported to GHS and is being treated for non life threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. SLED is investigating the incident.
