Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated the following incidents over the last two week period:

PELZER

April 29 – C.L. Wilkinson responded to 126 Whippoorwill Lane where Shirley Smith reported that someone had entered her home while she was away and had moved several pieces of furniture around. She could not confirm the loss of anything. A couple of hours later, Deputy D. McQueen was dispatched to 128 Whippoorwill Court where Brian Smith reported that someone had also entered his home as well as a shed in the yard. He too could not confirm any theft.

PIEDMONT

April 22 – S.S. Barnes responded to the Dollar General Store at 602 Anderson St. where Kayla Sutherland reported that while she was inside the store, someone entered her car and stole her purse, containing personal documents and Verizon Equinox tablet, valued at $185 .

April 23 – K.M. Pride responded to 111 Cedar Dr. where Danielle Resnick reported the theft of a Redcat four wheeler and a red Honda RX50 dirt bike. The loss was estimated at $1500.

April 23 – J.K. Vickery was on patrol in the vicinity of the Pilot gas station at 110 Frontage Road, when he encountered a person he knew to be Allen Shane Hall, Sr., WM, 38, 5’11″, 255 pounds, black/blue. Hall began acting strangely and appeared to be secreting an item or items in the waistband of his pants. Vickery conducted a search for weapons and found more than nine grams of methamphetamine. Hall resisted arrest for several minutes before being subdued and taken into custody.

April 25 – S.S. Barnes responded to the BP gas station on Hwy. 86 in Piedmont where Varkey Joseph, owner of the location, reported that someone had broken in and stolen cash from a file cabinet in the office. The amount taken was withheld by the ACSO.

April 29 – P.D. Marter responded to 205 Saluda Dr. Apt. #40 where Dasha Mangle reported that someone had entered her truck and stolen lineman tools and test meters, as well as her GPS unit. The loss was set at $790.

April 29 – P.D. Marter was dispatched to 904 Anderson St. to the Hardee’s. Eugenia Forester reported that someone broke into her vehicle while she was at work. Surveillance footage showed a subject, no description provided, enter her car and ransack the interior. Nothing was taken that Forester could tell.

April 29 – P.D. Marter responded to 114 Elrod Place where Phillip McCoig reported that someone had stolen the air conditioner from his new home. The loss was set at $10,000.

April 30 – P.D. Marter was dispatched to 111 Wedgefield Dr. where Robert Carter reported the theft of his turquoise Honda CBR-600 motorcycle, valued at $4000.

April 30 – P.D.Marter responded to the Super 8 motel on Hwy. 153 where Sergio Aguila reported that someone cut the lock on his enclosed work trailer and stole tools and a generator valued at $2950.

April 30 – A.L. Williams responded to McElrath St. where Ernestine Allen, a Rent-A-Center employee stated that she had been to #12 McElrath to retrieve some RAC property. She said the resident, name and description withheld, had told her to leave, then followed her into the driveway where she pointed a firearm at her. The accused denied pointing the gun but conceded that she did wave it around. The case was to be presented to a magistrate.

WILLIAMSTON

April 24 – J.G. Williams responded to 547 H I Taylor Rd. where he observed a Hispanic male, later identified as Wilver Mejia come outside and lie down on the porch. At that same time, another Hispanic male came out the side door. Humberto Garibo, 25, 5’6″, 165 pounds started yelling that he had assaulted Mejia inside the home. Yahara Torres, who has a child with Garibo, explained that she and Mejia returned from a date to find Garibo waiting for them. A fight ensued. Garibo, who was intoxicated, was arrested for assault and battery in the third degree.
