REESIE EVATT, ARTHUR ‘TODD’ PRESSLEY, W. MARSHALL RAMPEY, ANNIE ANDERSON, SHELBA TANNER HEAD, DEBORAH TAYLOR WALKER

REESIE EVATT

BELTON – Ressie Jo Hawthorne Evatt, 68, widow of Robert Henry Evatt, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Walter Thomas and Cora Browning Lee Hawthorne.  She was the owner of RJE Businesses in Alaska and S.C. She was a member of Mt. Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughters, Angela Annette Evatt of the home, Teresa Jo Evatt Hegdahl (Eric) of Slana, Alaska, Kristi Lee Evatt Moore of Anderson; son, Robert Anthony Evatt of Williamston; sisters, Cora Roehm of Easley, Sue Hawthorne Trotter of Pelzer, Dora Dobson of Piedmont; brothers, Ray Hawthorne of Belton and Pete Hawthorne of Pelzer; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation was from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 23, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer, the service followed at 2:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel.  Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 410 Mountain Springs Rd., Piedmont, SC 29673 or to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 285, Anderson, SC 29622.

ARTHUR ‘TODD’ PRESSLEY

Arthur E. “Todd” Pressley, of Taylors, widower of Gaynelle Evatt Pressley, died May 17, 2016.

He was born in Iva to Rev. F.H. and Mrs. Lillian Knight Pressley.

He is survived by two sisters, Ruth P. Rampey of Piedmont and Evangeline “Van” P. Smith of Greer.

He retired from Liberty National Insurance Company.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines and also served in the Korean Conflict.

Funeral services with Military Honors was held on Sunday, May 22 at Lee Road United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

W. MARSHALL RAMPEY

W. Marshall Rampey, of Piedmont, husband of Ruth Willene Pressley Rampey, died May 20, 2016.

He was a son of John Samuel andMarion Major Rampey.

He was a World War II veteran.

He was a pastor retiring as Chaplain for the Greenville campus of Southern Wesleyan University.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Rev. W. Marshall “Buddy” Rampey, Jr.; daughter, Martha Ruth Rampey; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joe Rampey, Rev. Paul Rampey, and Robert Rampey; and one sister, Doris Rampey Higgins.

A service to celebrate his life was held Monday, May 23 at ALIVE Wesleyan Church in Central. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

ANNIE ANDERSON

Annie Sue Cothran Anderson, 76, of Mauldin, widow of Bobby Wayne Anderson, died Saturday, May 21, 2016.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Haskell Andrew and Pauline Gambrell Cothran.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mauldin.

Surviving are son, Mike Anderson of Mauldin; siblings, Linda Bridges of Honea Path, Mary Coker of Garner, NC, Richard Cothran of Piedmont, Sam Cothran of Williamston, Joe Cothran of Belton, Donald Cothran of Fountain Inn; and three grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 24 at First Baptist Church of Mauldin. Burial followed at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

SHELBA TANNER HEAD

Shelba Tanner Head, 78, of Easley, wife of Jim Oliver Head, died Monday, May 23, 2016 at Baptist Easley Hospital.

She was born in Pickens County to the late Roy Rufus and Gladys Miller Tanner. She retired from Pickens County School District.

She was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Churh.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Jim D. Head of Rutherfordton, NC; two daughters, Sherry Lynch of Greenville and Gena Roberts of Manhattan Beach, CA; brother, Johnny Tanner of Piedmont; and sister, Donna Hall of Greenville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home – Downtown. Entombment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

DEBORAH TAYLOR WALKER

Deborah Taylor Walker, 62, wife of Roger W. Walker, died Thursday, May 19, 2016.

She was born in Spartanburg County, the daughter of Roy and Emogene Johnson Taylor of Columbus, NC.

She was employed with Anderson County School District 1 and was a member of First Baptist Church, Greenville.

Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are a daughter, Carrie Walker Nettles of Piedmont; brothers, Garry Taylor and Rickey Taylor, both of Campobello, and Darryl Taylor of Clinton; and two grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 28 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Greenville with visitation following the service until 1 p.m. in the church parlor. Burial will follow in Green River Baptist Church in Rutherfordton, NC.
