A suspect in a recent murder and assault on a second victim has been taken into custody in Knoxville, TN almost a week after the crimes were committed.
Stephen Grant Parten was arrested early on Wednesday morning, June 1, by members of the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force. Parten was being sought in connection with the murder of Ahmen Fallous on May 26. The scene of the murder was the White City Park Bridge. An extensive manhunt involving an air search and K-9 units was launched at the time, but was unsuccessful.
Anderson County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Lt. Sheila Cole could not officially release the incident report, but confirmed that there was a vehicle stolen from a home on Long Road the day before Parten was captured in Tennessee. Preliminary information from Knoxville indicates that the vehicle stolen was the one used by Parten to flee. That information confirmed reports received by The Journal that Parten stole a truck in the Long Road area and fled to Tennessee.
Parten, who allegedly pistol whipped Fallous’s girlfriend at the time of the shooting, was taken into custody about 5 a.m. without incident. He is being detained at the Knox County detention facility, awaiting extradition. He faces charges of murder, attempted murder, and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
