Williamston Town Council approved the Town’s Annual Budget for FY2016-17 during a special called meeting Monday. Envision Williamston was funded for a variety of economic and community development projects for next year including the following:

(1) An Electronic Message Board, full color (Promotions and Marketing)

(2) A Main Street Challenge, to be matched 2:1 with outside funds (Economic Development)

(3) Downtown Banners, to complement the electronic message board (Beautification)

(4) Community Activities, such as a public spaces clean-up day and a youth-oriented murals project (Community Engagement)

“I wish to thank Mayor Mack Durham and Councilman Rockey Burgess for their dedicated leadership in making these projects possible for the Town!” said Envision Williamston Executive Director Sonya Crandall. “They truly are our Economic Development Champions!! These projects will help us begin the first implementation phase of the Community Master Plan.”

Crandall said the EW program may have three major projects underway soon including an Adopt a Rest Stop project (Beautification), a Walmart Strategy project (Economic Development), and possibly a Facade Improvement program (also Beautification and Economic Development) with external funding.
