Whitefield and Hopewell firefighters work at the scene of a house fire Thursday evening on Pineland Meadows Road. Whitefield firefighter Michael Ryan was passing by the home on his way to the store when he spotted smoke. As he was preparing to report the fire they were dispatching his fire department and saying entrapment. He pulled up in the driveway of the home, put his fire gear on, and entered the burning home searching for the occupant. Once he made his way to the bedroom he discovered a fire in there but went in searching where he found a woman in the closet. He pulled her to safety and EMS rushed her to AnMed Health. The fire was quickly extinguished. Other family members made it out safely. (Photo by David Rogers)
