“DOT” STEPHENS

WILLIAMSTON – Jessie “Dot” White Stephens, 86, formerly of Piedmont, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016. She was the widow of Joe Thomas Stephens.

Born in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Cicero Logan and Grace McConnell White. She attended Piedmont Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include children, Alan Stephens (Ann) of Piedmont, Vickie Nimmons of Pelzer, Connie Hunnings (Gene) of Williamston, and Tim Stephens (Kelly) of Piedmont; brother, Carroll White of Pickens; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by son, Dan Stephens.

Visitation was from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Friday, July 15 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral followed at 2:00 pm in the mortuary chapel with burial at Oak Grove Baptist Church.

The family was at the home of Connie and Gene Hunnings, 1309 S. Academy St. Ext., Williamston.

JUDITH ‘JUDY’ CLARDY FRANZEN

Judith “Judy” Clardy Franzen, 77, of Taylors, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016.

Born in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Frank Gomer and Beulah Osteen Clardy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carl Franzen.

She retired from the Greenville County School District and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Surviving are her children, Robert Carl Franzen, Jr. of Sylva, NC, Theresa Claire Franzen of Greenville, Kimberly Franzen Petromichelis of Greenville, and Jonathan Patrick Franzen of Greenville; six grandchildren; two sisters,  Theresa Clardy Masters Lee of Columbia, and Frances Clardy Bracken of Blountville, TN.

Funeral mass was held Friday, July 15 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

BETTY JANE BABER THOMAS

Betty Jane Baber Thomas, 84, of Laurens, wife of Paul Grayson Thomas, Sr., died Saturday, July 16, 2016 at her home.

Bornin Abbeville, she was a daughter of the late Horace Gladstone Baber and Essie Alberta Vickery Baber.

She was owner of B. Thomas Antiques and was a member of First Baptist Church of Laurens.

Surviving in addition to her husband are four children; Debbie Thomas, and Grayson Thomas both of Greer, Allen Thomas of Laurens, and Chris Thomas of Williamston; and six grandchildren.

A memorial servicde was held July 19 at First Baptist Church. Private burial was held at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

RANDY PEARSON

Burris Randall “Randy” Pearson, 60, of Belton, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of Helen Geraldine “Gerri” Haynes Pearson of Pelzer and the late Burris Melmin Pearson. He had formerly worked with Am-Can and was a member of Washington Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by sons, Kyle Pearson of Taylors, Jarred Pearson of Boiling Springs; brother, Roger Pearson of Belton; sister, Vickie Pearson Gedosch of Pelzer; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Monday, July 18 at Washington Baptist Church Family Life Center.

FAYE LAY DAVIS

Faye Lay Davis, 69, of Easley, wife of the late Ronald “Ron” Lee Davis, died Thursday, July 14, 2016 at her home.

She was born in Oconee County.

Surviving are daughters, Joy Davis of Charlotte, Renee Davis of Lexington, and Michelle Taylor of Easley; son, Toby Davis of Powdersville; brothers, Roger Lay of Princeton and Kenneth Lay of Belton; sister, Sherry Watkins of Honea Path; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Monday, July 18 at Robinson Funeral Home, Easley. Entombment followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens, Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum.

POLLY STONE

Polly Cooley Stone, 91, of Williamston, widow of Wallace Harper Stone, died Sunday, July 10, 2016.

A native of southern Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late James Enoch and Vennie Cothran Cooley. She was retired from Dary Sue Industries.

Survivors include sons, Larry Stone of Los Angeles, CA, Danny Stone of the Dominican Republic; sisters, Ruth Warlick, Zella Moody, Nan Shubert; brother, James Cooley; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Sunday, July 17, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral followed at 3:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial followed at Guthrie Grove Church Cemetery.

NANCY DALTON ROBINSON

Nancy Dalton Robinson, 72, of Pickens, wife of the late Glenn C. Robinson, died Monday, July 18, 2016 at her home.

Born in Easley she was a daughter of the late Earl Russell Dalton, Sr. and Bertha King Dalton.

She retired from Frierson’s Drug Store in Easley and was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church.

She is survived by two brothers, Jack Douglas Dalton and Ronald Wayne “Ronnie” Dalton, both of Williamston; and sister, Frances Ruth Robinson of West Union.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 22 at Jones Avenue Baptist Church in Easley. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 21 from 6 p.m – 8 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home – Downtown, 305 W. Main Street, Easley.

The family is at the residence.
