Incumbent councilman Otis Scott is running for reelection to the Ward 4 seat on Williamston Town Council. “I am asking for your vote in the November election,” Scott said this week. “It has been a privilege serving the people of Williamston as your councilman for Ward 4 for the past four years. I not only serve my ward, but have worked hard to serve all the citizens of Williamston.”

Scott said he enjoys having input into the future of the town and helping the citizens.

“I enjoy helping because I believe we have the best town in Anderson County,” he said. “I will always put the interest of the citizens as a priority. The citizens of Williamston make the town. Their tax dollars keep our town running.”

Scott said if elected he will continue to work to improve the town. “I will not only work to improve the looks of Main Street, but also work to improve all neighborhoods.”

Scott said he will continue to work with the mayor, council and county officials to get streets paved in Williamston, which has been a priority for him since being elected to serve on council.

“I have already worked with the mayor and council to get the new entrance to Gatewood and street lights put on this street.”

Scott also worked with the Anderson County Transportation Committee for C funds to get two of the worst streets in Williamston, Hill and Ellison streets, paved recently.

Bringing business into town and keeping citizens informed are also priorities.

“If elected, I will work to try to get more business and jobs in our town,” he said. “I will work to keep our citizens informed on what is going on in our town.”

“I am retired and available seven days a week and twenty-four hours for any citizen in any ward that needs my help,” Scott said. “I will be glad to help in any way I can. I will always work to make our town a great place to live.”

Scott said he will also continue to look out for the best interest of town employees. “They work hard to keep our town giong,” he said.

Scott said he was planning to announce earlier this year that he would not be seeking reelection, but changed his mind after speaking with his pastor and praying about the decision.

“If the citizens see fit to elect me again, I would be more than proud to serve them to the best of my knowledge and ability,” Scott said.

Scott is a lifelong resident of Williamston. He and his wife Gail (Morgan) have been married for 47 years.

They have one daughter, Tonya McAbee and son-in-law Chris McAbee and two grand-daughters, Mallory and Adrianna.

He is a lifelong member of Big Creek Baptist Church where he has seved as Chairman of Deacons and Sunday School director.

He is currently serving his second term on council.

He was elected to council for one term, then ran unsuccessfully for mayor, and was reelected to the current four year term.
