‘CHIP’ HEATHERLY, ‘JOE’ PALMER, BRUCE PETERSON, SAMUEL J. HOLLAND, CHARLES CRITTENDON, JOANN STROUD DONALD, JANETTE TURNER SMITH

‘CHIP’ HEATHERLY

James Gregory “Chip” Heatherly, 51, of Pelzer, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at his home.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of Vera Allen Scott and the late Claude Lee “Red” Heatherly.  He was formerly employed with Torrington.

In addition to his mother of the home, he is survived by a daughter, Tasha Fuller of Belton and two grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Sunday, November 20, at the Pelzer Church of God.

Memorials may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

‘JOE’ PALMER

Joseph “Joe” Paul Palmer, 55, of Williamston, husband of Beverly Soloski Palmer, died Thursday, November 17, 2016.

Born in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of Robert E. Lee Palmer and Helen Podsedly Palmer.  He was formerly employed with Burroughs, Inc. in Ohio.

In addition to his wife of the home and parents of Williamston, he is survived by children, Joseph Robert Palmer of Brunswick, OH and Amber Rose Smith of Washington, DC; sisters, Linda Logan of Pelzer and Corrine Miller of Columbus, OH.

The family received friends  Wednesday, November 23 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in OH.

The funeral service followed with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Cleveland, OH.

BRUCE PETERSON

WILLIAMSTON – Bruce Harold Peterson, 65, husband of Kay Wyer Peterson, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at his home.

Born in Shenandoah, IA, he was a son of the late Harold Raymond and Jemima Winifred McGinnis Peterson. He was a Special Officer with the Williamston Police Department.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jennifer Ward (Chuck) of Williamston, Joshua Peterson (Terri) of Middletown, PA, Jonathan Peterson (Lauren) of Carrabelle, FL and Jamee Arnold (Joel) of Buffalo, SC; brothers, Robert Peterson of NJ and Larry Peterson of TX; fifteen grandchildren and two on the way.

He was predeceased by a sister, Linda Peterson.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, November 23 at Grace Baptist Church, Pelzer. The service will follow at 7:00 pm in the church.

Burial will be at Union Grove Cemetery in Northboro, IA.

SAMUEL J. HOLLAND

Samuel J. Holland, 83 of Clemson, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at his residence.

He was a member of Progressive Church of our Lord Jesus Christ in Williamston. He is survived by his wife of the home, Eleanor Pruitt Holland; two daughters; four sons; two sisters; three brothers;

Services were held Saturday, November 19, at Progressive Church of our Lord Jesus Christ, 201 South Academy Street, Williamston.

CHARLES CRITTENDON

Charles Homer Crittendon, 66, Anderson, died Wednesday 16, 2016 at AnMed Health Medical Center, Anderson.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Frank H. Crittendon and Mary Nell Eaves Crittendon. He retired from JP Stevens Industries. He was also a US Navy Veteran serving in the Vietnam Era and a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife: Joann Rudder Crittendon; three daughters: Kelly Montgomery of Rock Hill, Carey Crittendon De Lucca of Greer, Claudia Crittendon Mathis of Williamston; six grandchildren; one brother: Kirk Baxter Crittendon of Bath, NY and one sister: Wanda Hendricks of Hartwell.

A funeral mass celebrating His life was held on Saturday, November 19, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ Catholic Church.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

JOANN STROUD DONALD

Joann Stroud Donald, 84, of Iva, died on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Fair Play, she was the daughter of the late John Stroud and the late Lily Mosely Stroud. She was a member of Andersonville Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Ronnie Donald of Pelzer, Jimmie Donald of Abbeville, Mike Donald of Iva, Barbara Chabek of Anderson, Cathy Wiles of Abbeville, and Joyce  Latham of Anderson; a brother, Virgil Stroud of Belton; sisters, Mary Hanna of Anderson, Betty Brooks of Anderson, Lavone Campbell of Williamston, and Fannie Witcher of Iva; 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Donald.

The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, November 19, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment followed at Southlawn Memorial Gardens.

JANETTE TURNER SMITH

Janette Turner Smith, 76, of Belton, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at her residence. Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Earl Edward “Ed” and Louise Wade Turner.

She retired from AnMed Health Medical Center, and was a member of Belton First Baptist Church.

Surviving are: sons, Steven Smith of Anderson, David and Daniel Smith both of Belton; brothers, Wallace Turner  and Houston Turner all of Greenville, Ronnie Turner of Pelzer; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held  Sunday at Belton First Baptist Church.

Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to Belton First Baptist Church.
