Greenville & Western Railway Company, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Western Carolina Railway Service Corporation, will celebrate the tenth year of Santa riding the rails through the area with the “Santa Express” this Saturday, Dec. 10. The Santa Exprees will have their first stop in Belton and will stop in Cheddar, Williamston and Pelzer.

Following Santa’s arrival at each stop, each and every little boy and girl in attendance will have an opportunity to step on board Santa’s caboose and tell Old Saint Nick exactly what they want for Christmas and receive a sweet treat. Santa will also draw tickets at every stop for special gifts from his gift bag before the train departs.

The Santa Express schedule is as follows:

Belton – arrive O’Neal Street 9:00 a.m., depart 11:30 p.m.

Cheddar – Cheddar Road arrive 12:15 p.m., depart 2:00 p.m.

Williamston – Williams Street arrive 2:30 p.m., depart 4:15 p.m.

Pelzer – Lyman Street (at the depot) arrive 4:45 p.m., depart 6:15 p.m.

Santa plans to stay until the last person has a chance to come through the caboose at Pelzer.

This year Greenville & Western is partnering with the Belton Interfaith Ministerial Association (“BIMA”) and the Presbyterian Food Bank of Pelzer and Williamston (“PFB”) to collect food for those in our community who may presently find themselves in a time of real need.

Greenville & Western encourages those who attend this year’s event on Saturday to bring a donation of one or more non-perishable food items to the train.

Greenville & Western, BIMA and PFB volunteers will be staffing the boxcar (the black car just ahead of the caboose) to accept your donations and thank you in advance for your generous support of both organizations’ food ministry. Donations are not mandatory for participation in the event.
