Each year the Piedmont Lions club recognizes persons who have made a significant contribution to the Piedmont Community. Those who are recognized are not Lions Club members and the selection is voted on by members of the Lions Club. Frank and Ruth Pace were presented with the 2017 Citizen-of-the-Year Award. Mr. and Mrs. Pace have organized and hosted an annual barbecue and music fest to benefit the Piedmont Fireman’s needy Family Fund. The event is held at FGS Hardware and has provided fun for the town of Piedmont and has raised thousands of dollars for needy families.
The Paces also participate in the Appalachian Ministries of Carolina with mission trips to areas of the coal fields in the Appalachian mountains of Kentucky to provide clothes, especially coats, to person in need in this are of the county. Their hardware store is also a great benefit to the local community.
