GENEVA GARDO

PELZER – Geneva Fowler Gardo, 82, wife of Otis Boyd “Bud” Gardo, Sr., passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Guy Grady and Millie Bell McDaniel Fowler. She was retired from Fiber Industries.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Teresa Gardo Alexander (Joe) of Williamston; sons, Robert Lee Gardo (Missy) of Pelzer, and Otis B. Gardo, Jr. (Jimelle) of Pelzer; brother, Jimmy Fowler of Inman; grandchildren, Jeff and Melissa Lippincott, Tyler Gardo, Jacob, Rachel, and Chloe Gardo; great-grandchildren, Alex and Caden Lippincott.

The funeral was Friday, September 1, at 3:00 p.m. in the mausoleum chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

KENNETH SHIFLET

Kenneth Leroy Shiflet, 59, of Cherokee, NC, died August 21, 2017 at his home.

He was born in Anderson to the late John Floyd Shiflet and Rachel Evelena White Shiflet.

He was a millwright worker.

Surviving are his wife, Cynthia Shiflet; daughter, Carrie Brown of Williamston; sister, Barbara Bracher of Belton; brother, J.D. Shiflet of Clinton; stepsons, Timothy Snipes, Anthony Snipes; two grandchildren; and three step grandchildren.

LINDA C. BELL

Linda Bell, 70, of Greer, died Saturday, September 2, 2017.

She was the daughter of the late O’Donald S. Bell and Mary Porter Bell Rollins.

She retired from KOSA, Spartanburg and was currently Ministry Assistant at The Church at Lake Cooley and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather Gossett of Greer; son, Slade Robbins of Pelzer; two grandchildren; and brother, Don Bell of Albany, GA.

A celebration of life service was held Wednesday, Sept. 6 at The Wood Mortuary, Greer. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Greer.

DAVID PENNINGTON

Robert David Pennington, 71, of Belton, husband of Brenda Gayle McAbee Pennington, died Tuesday, August 29, 2017.

Born in Gray Court, he was a son of the late Grace Harvey Pennington. A U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, former employee with Par-Gas and member of Mountain View Baptist Church, Taylors.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Bobby Pennington, Jr., Andrew Pennington and Douglas Pennington, all of Greer; brothers, Ernest Pennington of Greer and Johnny Pennington of Fountain Inn; sisters, Elsie Price of Greenville and Sara Jo Harrison of Piedmont; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Saturday, September 2, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 14050 E. Wade Hampton Blvd., Greer, with military honors.

MARGARET T. JORDAN

Margaret T. Jordan, 93, of Greenville, wife of the late Joe F. Jordan, Sr., died Tuesday, August 30, 2017.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late James and Bessy Coker Thompson.

She was the owner of Margo’s Home of Beauty.

She is survived by sons, Joe F. Jordan, Jr. and Doug Jordan; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Hazel King.

A graveside service was held Friday, Sept. 1 at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

ROBIN WHITE

PELZER – Robin Lee White, 48, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at her home.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of Mollie Jones White of Pelzer and the late William Stanley White, Sr.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by daughter, Kelsie Lee Ingram and son-in-law, Jacob Millwood of Pelzer; granddaughter, Connie Lee Millwood; significant other, Larry Turner of the home; brother, William Stanley White, Jr. of Piedmont; half-sister, Denise B. Elwell of Greer.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Nicole Lee Poole.

A graveside service was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, at Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith   Cemetery.

SHELBY DAVIS

Shelby Jean Whitlock Davis, 78, of Piedmont, wife of James “Jim” Russell Davis, Jr., died Saturday, September 2, 2017.

Born in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late William Harry and Clara Trotter Whitlock. She was a homemaker.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, Tony Davis of Piedmont and one grandson.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, September 6, in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

EVELYN SULLIVAN

Evelyn Brookie Sullivan, 80, of Easley, widow of Jimmy Rogers Sullivan, Sr., died Sunday, September 3, 2017.

Born March 15, 1937, she was a daughter of the late John Charles and Ruth Hooper Brookie.  She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons, Jim Sullivan, Jr., J. Keith Sullivan and Joe Edwin Sullivan, all of Easley; sisters, Carolyn Everett of Shelby, NC, Sybil Brookie Eller of Piedmont, Charleen Rogers of Pendleton; brother, John Welborn Brookie  of Shelby, NC.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, September 7, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church cemetery.

KATHLEEN WARD

Kathleen “Kitty” Huff Ward, 88, of Belton, wife of James P. “Bill” Ward, died Friday, September 1, 2017 at her home.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late James Lemeul and Nannie Cason Huff.

She retired from the Greenville County School System and was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, James Stephen “Steve” Ward of Simpsonville and Phillip “Phil” Douglas Ward of Piedmont; two grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Purvine and Bobbie Williams of Greenville, Edna Cook of Lexington; and brother, Doug Huff of Greenville.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, September 5 in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

AGNES GUYTON

Agnes Duncan Guyton, 95, of Williamston, died Friday, September 1, 2017 at NHC of Anderson.

She was a daughter of the late Henry Phillip Duncan and the late Maude Wheeler Duncan.

She retired as a teacher from Anderson School District One.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Williamston.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret Dean of Williamston and Lillian Schomburg of Santa Paula, CA.

She was predeceased by her husband Ralph Randolph Guyton.

Funeral service was held Sunday, September 3 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.

PATRICIA “PAT” REEVES WILLIAMS

Patricia Gail Reeves Williams, 79, of Greenville, wife of Raymond Williams, died Friday, September 1, 2017.

Born in Woodruff, she was the daughter of the late Roy Reeves and Amelia Brown Reeves.

She retired from State Farm Insurance and was a member of City View First Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Debra W. McCauley of Miami, FL, Donna Shipman of Powdersville; son, Mark Williams of Batesburg; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Toni Looper of Dacusville; and a brother, Domer Reeves of Charlotte, NC.

Funeral service was held Monday, September 4 at City View First Baptist Church. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery, West.

DOT CLARK

Dorothy “Dot” Lee Hall Clark, 81, of Williamston, wife of Ben Frank Clark, died Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at her home.

Born in Ware Shoals, she was a daughter of the late James Gordon and Ethel Sweat Hall. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Sherron Robbins of Anderson and Donna Clark of Williamston; son, Demetrius Clark of Williamston; sisters, Mary Ann McClellion of Pelzer and Gaynell Montgomery of Greenwood; four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7: 30 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with burial following at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

The family is at 845 Bryant Road, Pelzer.

PAT BLACKSTON

PELZER – Palestine Ann “Pat” Dunlap Blackston, 92, wife of the late James Lee Blackston, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017.

Born in West Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Marshall and Annie Coker Dunlap. She retired from Anderson Auto Parts as a sales manager and was an active member of Big Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by daughters, Beverly B. Atkins (Jerry) and Vickie B. Pollard, both of Pelzer; grandchildren, Lee and Todd Atkins, Karen Sweat and Melody Craine; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Morgan Atkins, Hayden, Elijah, Victoria and Lillian Sweat, and Emmett and Owen Craine.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 pm Sunday, September 10, at Big Creek Baptist Church. The service will follow at 3:00 in the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
