A crew from Pike Contractors clears limbs Wednesday morning from power lines on Hamilton St. in Williamston. A severe thunderstorm about 1:30 am Wednesday caused part of a large oak tree to fall on power lines on Hamilton Street affecting 529 Duke energy customers. Partial power was restored about 4:30 a.m. and full restoration was completed by about 11:30 pm. State and local officials are preparing for the possibility of more bad weather early next week, watching closely as Hurricane Irma heads toward the east coast and possibly into South Carolina.
