JEFF CRATON

PELZER, SC – Jeffery “Jeff” Charles Craton, 56, husband of Karen Splawn Craton, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at his home.

Born in Lafayette, GA, he was a son of the late Carolyn Craton Puckett. He retired from the SC Department of Corrections and was a member of NewSpring Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and loved his family, friends and country.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Kaitlin Craton (fiancé, Thomas James Bentley) of Pelzer; brothers, Tony Helms (Penny) and Ricky Helms, both of Indian Land; uncles, Tim Craton, Sr. (Cindy), David Craton, both of Indian Land and Jude Craton (Mary Ann) of Huntersville, NC; aunt, Marianne Hensley (Clarence) of Indian Land.

Visitation was from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday, November 25, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The service followed at 1:00 pm in the mortuary chapel. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

RICHARD ROGERS

Richard Anderson Rogers, 54, of Williamston, died Monday, November 20, 2017 at the home.

Born in Anderson, he was a son of Jane Anderson Rogers and the late James Carroll Rogers.  He was self-employed and a member of Williamston First Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by brother, Lee Rogers; and sister, Carol Phillips of Williamston.

Funeral service was held Friday, November 24, at the Williamston First Baptist Church.

PEGGY ALVERSON

Peggy Joan King Alverson, 70, of Williamston, widow of William Harold Alverson, died Tuesday, November 21, 2017.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Charles Edward King, Jr. and Fannie Lenora Davis King. She was a homemaker and attended Southside Baptist Church in Piedmont.

She is survived by daughters, Kim Baldwin of Williamston, Kristy Burroughs of Pelzer; sister, Leslie Carol Childers of Fork Shoals; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

A graveside service was held Saturday, November 25 in the mausoleum chapel at Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family received friends following the graveside service.

HALEY MARIE KING

Haley Marie King, 18, of Piedmont, died November 19, 2017.

She is survived by her daughter, Sophia Marie Richardson; siblings, Ethan Wood and Madelyn Grace Pitts; mother, Jaime Wood and step father, Darren Pitts; father, Kevin King; grandmother, Terri Wood; and grandparents Lindsey and Beverly King.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, November 22 at The Palmetto Mortuary in Greenville. Burial followed at Wood Memorial Park in Greer.

NELLIE JEAN MAULDIN CLEVELAND

Nellie Jean Mauldin Cleveland, 81, of Greenville, wife of the late Farmer Lee Cleveland, Jr., died Monday, November 20, 2017.

Born in Pickens, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Anderson and Mary Carolina Barnes Mauldin.

She retired from Dow Brands and was a member of Welcome Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen Smith of Greer; three sons, Kenneth Cleveland of Dacusville, Alvin Cleveland of Alabama, and David Cleveland of Greenville; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edna Guthrie of Piedmont.

A graveside service was held Friday, November 24 in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

LARRY BRYANT

Thomas “Larry” Bryant, 72, of Liberty, husband of the late Dale Osborne Bryant, died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at his home.

Born in Liberty, he was the son of the late Ernest E. and Geneva Olivia White Bryant. He was self employed in construction.

Surviving are his daughter, Tracie Ledford of Pelzer; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joyce Courter, Barbara Nix and Olivia Whitman; and brother, Ernest E. Bryant, Jr.

DORIS WILSON

Doris Jeanette Strange Wilson, 78, of Taylors, died November 22, 2017.

Born in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Coleman B. and Margaret Jones Strange.

She was a homemaker and a member of Eagle Rock Holiness Church.

Surviving are her husband, Jonathan Leon Wilson of the home; three daughters, Deborah Wilson of Taylors, Rita Naugle of Powdersville and Charlene Bigini of West Point, GA; three son, Stanley Wilson of Greenville, David Wilson of Kenley, NC and Tim Wilson; one sister, Cathy King of Greenville; 13 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 25 at The Wood Mortuary. Burial followed in Graceland East Memorial Park.

LEWIS WILSON BRADY

Lewis Wilson Brady, 84, of Anderson, died Friday, November 24, 2017.

Born in Elberton, GA, he was the son of the late Benjamin Bryant Brady and the late Olivia Partain Brady.

He was predeceased by his wife, Erah Fields Brady.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard and retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas.

He is survived by daughters, Judy Griggs of Williamston, Connie Gray of Iva, Carol Sentell of Greer; son, Ray Brady of Williamston; brothers, Jimmy Brady of Blairsville, GA, Jody Brady and Larry Brady of Elberton, GA; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 27 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.

KINDRA A. HOLLIS

Kindra A. Hollis, 40, of Greenville, died Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Greenville Health System.

Funeral service was held Saturday, November 22 at Rock Hill Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

DONNA LEE SEYMORE CHASTAIN

Donna Lee Seymore Chastin, 63, of Piedmont, wife of Danny Chastain, died Saturday, November 25, 2017.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Raymond and Carolyn Seymore.

She was a member of Judson Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving in addition to her parents and husband are two sons, Adam and Arin Chastain; and a brother, Tim Seymore, all of Piedmont.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 30 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. A graveside service will follow in Graceland Cemetery West at 2:30 p.m.

IRENE CENTER

Irene Melissa Boyd Center, 85, of Belton, widow of Donald Henry Center, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at her home.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Sarah Crain Boyd. She was a homemaker and a member of Washington Baptist Church.

She is survived by daughter, Donna Cothran of Belton; sister, Gladys Breedlove of Marietta; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Thursday, November 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Washington Baptist Church, with burial at Mountain View Memorial Park, in Travelers Rest.

HAROLD ALLEN

Harold Norman Allen, 87, of Lancaster, died Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Springs Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Pelzer, a son of the late Carl Clifton Allen and Clara Lindley Allen.

He was a member of First A.R.P. Church and was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He retired from Springs Industries.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 29 at First A.R.P. Church. Burial followed in the Lancaster Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife, Betty H. Allen of Lancaster; two sisters, Doris Thomas and Helen McCall of Pelzer.

WILLIAM ALEXANDER FARRAR, JR.

William Alexander Farrar, Jr., 80, of Greenville, widower of Jenny Porter Farrar, died Sunday, November 26, 2017.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late William Alexander, Sr. and Frances Lawton Farrar.

He served in the U.S. Marines.

He is survived by a daughter, Kathryn E. Phillips of Greenville; a son, William Farrar, III of Piedmont; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Marian Parker Farrar.

A visitation will be held Friday, December 1 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

ANJANETTE ‘A.J.” E. GOODING

Anjanette “A.J.” Edwards Gooding, 47 died November 26, 2017.

Born in Greenville County, daughter of Marlene Burrell Edwards of Greer and the late James A. Edwards, Jr., she was a homemaker and a member of Victor Baptist Church.

Surviving also are her husband, Jeffry Alan Gooding of the home; two sons, Kaben and Micah Gooding of the home; and two sisters, Lisa Hall of Piedmont and Jamie Templeton of Simpsonville.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday , November 30 at Victor Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 12:45 – 2:45 p.m. Thursday at the church.

RONALD KEITH CROWE

Ronald Keith Crowe, 60, of Piedmont, died Sunday, November 26, 2017.

He was the son of Welford P. and Joyce Osteen Crowe.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Matthew Crowe; two grandchildren; two brothers, Kenny Crowe and Brian Crowe.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from11 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. at West Gantt Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m.

Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
