BILL ROGERS

PELZER – Billy Joe “Bill” Rogers, 83, husband of Doris Sloan Rogers, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at his home.

Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Walter and Lillian Frances Bowen Rogers.  He was retired from Cintas and a Baptist.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Derek (Penny) Rogers of Pelzer and David (Lori) Rogers of Lexington; sister, Mary Ruth Ellison of Williamston; grandchildren, Daniel, Deven, Zane and Haley Rogers; great-grandchildren, Bryson, Avalee and Elijah Rogers.

He was predeceased by a son, William Douglas Rogers.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, December 21, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the mortuary chapel with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

WOODROW MCCLAIN, JR.

Woodrow “Wood” McClain, Jr, 57, of Piedmont, died Friday, December 15, 2017 at St. Francis Health System Downtown.

He was a son of the late Woodrow McClain, Sr. and Mary Louise McKinney McClain.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Miles McClain of the home; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Walker and Marie Rawles of Washington, DC; three brothers, Mike McClain, Reggie McClain and Joe McClain, all of Gastonia, NC.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, Dec. 20 at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

CYNTHIA MARSHALL

WILLIAMSTON—Cynthia Jean Williams Marshall, 62, wife of Thomas Ellis Marshall, Sr., passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017.

Born in San Antonio, TX, she was a daughter of the late Betty Jean Ray and J. Richard Williams, Sr. She was a loving mother and housewife.

Additional survivors include her children, Thomas Marshall, Jr. (Candi), and Jada Marshall, both of Williamston; siblings, Pam Holmes, Crystal Emery, both of Pelzer, James R. Williams, Jr. of Belton; grandchildren, Emilie and John Marshall.

She was predeceased by son, Jason Michael Marshall; and sister, Lynn Carter.

Visitation was Wednesday, December 20, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. The service followed at 1:30 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial was at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pelzer Church of God, P.O. Box 276, Pelzer, SC 29669.

The family is at the home of son, Thomas, 122 Bragg Drive, Williamston, SC 29697.

VIRGINIA HOLDEN HUMPHREYS

Virginia Holden Humphreys, 91, of Easley, wife of the late Valdine Humphreys, died Friday, December 15, 2017.

Born in Central, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Ruth Sargent Holden.

She retired from Woodside Mill.

Surviving are her children, Linda Bell of Easley, Terry Chapman of Powdersville and Dean Humphreys of Easley; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Peggy McJunkin of Walterboro and Doris Seigle of Six Mile.

A graveside service was held Sunday, December 17 in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Easley.

SISSY TAYLOR

Frances “Sissy” Henrietta Thompson Taylor, 74, of Pelzer, wife of Joel K. Taylor, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at her home.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Oliver and Mary Frances Lindley Thompson. She was a retired school teacher from Enoree Career Center.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Ann Taylor Gaston of Williamston; sister, Mary Ann Woodson of West Pelzer; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Friday, December 15 in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

JEFFERY SCOT DALTON

Jeffery Scot Dalton, 32, died Thursday, December 7, 2017.

Born in Pinehurst, NC, a son of Harry Lee and Tammy Burton Dalton. He was a foreman with Dalton Turf & Irrigation, and was a member of NewSpring Church.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Jack Douglas Dalton of Williamston, and Bradley Jay Dalton of Simpsonville; and his grandfathers, Jack Dalton of Williamston and Joe Burton of Belton.

Memorial services were Monday, December 11, 2017 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown Easley.

ROY DAWSON

Roy Foster Dawson, 70, of Pelzer, husband of Grace Flatt Dawson, died, December 14, 2017.

Born in Knoxville, TN, he was a son of the late Reo Foster and Geneva Keeney Dawson. He was formerly employed with Industrial Burners and was a member of Washington Baptist Church.

He is survived by daughters, Debbie Mason of Piedmont and Darlene Wesner of Oak Ridge, TN; five grandchildren; and open great-grandson.

Funeral service was held Saturday, December 16 in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

EULA BELL WILLIAMS-SMITH

Eula Bell Williams-Smith, 93, of Greenville, died Friday, December 8, 2017 at her home.

Surviving are two daughters, Addie Bell Smith Wilson of Piedmont and Xanthene Smith Carey of Decatur, GA.

Funeral service was held Friday, December 15 at Macedonia Baptist Church. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

MARTHA S. FEW

Martha Iris Staton Few, 72, of Taylors, died December 16, 2017.

Born in Greer, she was a daughter of the late Waymon and Lila Belle Hall Staton. She was a homemaker and a member of Highland Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Theron “Buster” Few of the home; son, Darin Crisp of Landrum; stepson, Brian Keith of Powdersville; brother, Franklin Buck Staton of Landrum; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, December 19 at Highland Baptist Church. Burial followed in Highland Baptist Church Cemetery.

THOMAS FRANK HAWKINS

Thomas “Tom” Frank Hawkins, 59, of Simpsonville, husband of Prudence Ramsey Hawkins, died Friday, December 15, 2017.

Born in Sparta, WI, he was a son of the late Raymond Frank and Evelyn Inderberg Hawkins.

He worked for 3M and  was a member of Hallmark Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Emilie H. Gilbert of Pelzer; son, Andrew Scott Hawkins of Simpsonville; three grandchildren; sister, Gail H. Maurice of Warren, OH; three brothers, William C. Hawkins of Simpsonville, Raymond J. Hawkins of Long Island, NY, and James D. Hawkins of Cashton, WI.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, December 20 in the Thomas McAfee Southeast Chapel. Burial followed in Hallmark Baptist Church Cemetery.

JAMES E. HARGROVE

Jamed Edward Hargrove, 71, of Anderson, died December 16, 2017 at his home.

Born in Pelzer, he was the son of the late Charlie Lee Hargrove and the late Floree Moody Hargrove. He retired from TTi.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Reynolds Hargrove; son, James Christopher Hargrove; brother, Sammy Hargrove; sister, Nancy Fuller; and two grandchildren.

Family received friends Tuesday at The McDougald Funeral Home.

JANICE LYNN NOBLITT MESARDJIAN

Janice L. Noblitt Mesardjian, 69, of Simpsonville, wife of Aram Mesardjian, died Monday, December 18, 2017.

Born in Chattanooga, TN, she was a daughter of the late Howard Noblitt and Emily Delores Melton Noblitt. She was a member of First Baptist Church Simpsonville.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother; sons, Kevin Jeffries of Atlanta, GA, Kale Jeffries of Piedmont, Chris Mesardjian of Mauldin, and Matthew Mesardjian of Simpsonville; daughter, Kristi Jeffries of Greenville; and 13 grandchildren.

‘PAT’ DAVIS

James Edward “Pat” Davis, 86, of Piedmont, died Monday, December 18, 2017.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Friday, December 22 at Bessie Road Baptist Church with the funeral following at 2 p.m.
