MARVIN D. WHITWORTH

WILLIAMSTON, SC – Marvin David Whitworth, 81, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Henry and Lizzie Mae LaCount Whitworth. He was a graduate of Anderson Boys High School. Mr. Whitworth was retired from the U.S. Air Force with 21 years service. He worked with the FAA at Greenville-Spartanburg Airport as a radar technician and later worked as a paralegal for McIntosh, Sherard, Sullivan & Brousseau, Attorneys at Law, for 15 years until his retirement in 2016. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Williamston.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene J. Whitworth; four daughters, Fraya Leming, Donna Cernogorsky, Tina Garrard and husband, Chris, and Linda Kirtley and husband, Chris; one son, David Whitworth and wife, Yon Hui; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Shirley Grimsley and Shelby Jordan and husband, Truman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Kenneth Leming and two grandsons, David Whitworth and Timothy Kirtley.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 11, at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery conducted by Rev. Joe Cadden. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sullivan-King Mortuary.

LOIS ELIZABETH PAGE MCNEELY

Lois Elizabeth Page McNeely, 92, of Powdersville, died Monday, January 8, 2018.

She was the daughter of the late Luther and Annie Mayfield Page.

She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Renita Owens of Piedmont, Rebecca Robinson of Springfield, MO, Cheryl Bryson of Simpsonville, Donna Hammontree of Savannah, GA, and J. Aden McNeely of Piedmont; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Thelma Brock of Greenville and Jean Moore of Simpsonvillle.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, January 10 at Siloam Baptist Church. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

TOMMY CROWE

WILLIAMSTON – Tommy Crowe, 65, husband of Joann Waters Crowe, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at his home.

Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Furman Crowe, Sr. and Nettie Lawson Crowe.  He was retired from Carolina Auto Auction.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Crystal L. Rowe of Williamston; son, Joshua A. Crowe of the home; sister, Patricia Smith of Belton; brothers, Furman (Maynard) Crowe, Jr. and Robert Crowe, both of Anderson; grandchildren, Jacob, Joseph and Alexis Rowe.

He was predeceased by three sisters.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 8, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, in the mortuary chapel with burial following in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Williamston.

ROBERT EDWARD MILLIGAN

Robert Edward Milligan, age 61, of 129 Grey Rd., Belton, SC, passed away at Regency Hospital, Greenville, SC, on December 27, 2017.

He was the son of the late Robert William Milligan and Kate Wright Milligan.

He was predeceased by a sister, Debra Thomas of Florida and a son, Robert Shaun Milligan of Belton.

Surviving are a sister, Wanda Smith (Kenneth) of Belton; two nieces, three nephews, six great-nieces, and five great-nephews; and a number of cousins, one who is Charles Phillips who was very helpful to him over the past years.

The family will hold a private service.

JOY COOLEY MCGUIRE

Joy Reena Cooley McGuire, 53, of Belton, died Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at AnMed Health Center.

Born in Grant County, WA, she was a daughter of the late David Manuel and Peggy Lorene Smith Cooley.

She was a physical therapist’s assistant at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.

She is survived by three brothers, Kelly Cooley of Greer, Phillip Cooley of Greer, and Shane Cooley of Honea Path; two sisters, Robin Stallings of Piedmont and Teresa Williamson of Illinois.

Memorial services were held at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, January 7.

NORMA C. SMITH

Norma C. Smith, of Piedmont, wife of the late Harold L. Smith, died January 3, 2018.

She was the daughter of the late Boyd W. and Effie Cochran.

She was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Terry L. Smith; daughter, Janet S. Cann; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A private committal service was held Saturday, January 6 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

MARY O. VICKERY

Mary Olene Sanders Vickery, 84, of Anderson, died Saturday, January 6, 2018, at her home.

Born in Newry, she was the daughter of the late Edward “Ed” Sanders and the late Elma Woods Sanders.

She was wife of Leonard C. Vickery, Sr. of the home.

She was a charter member of Temple Baptist Church. She retired from Westinghouse.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Blake Freeman and Dr. Lawson Freeman, both of Anderson; two daughters, Joan Freeman  Crisp of Anderson and Darlene Freeman Nichols of Simpsonville; three step sons, Leonard C. Vickery, Jr. of Anderson, David S. Vickery of Williamston, and Michael T. Vickery of Williamston; step-daughter, Patty V. Stewart of Pelzer; two sisters, Bernice Sanders Logan of Anderson, and Rosa Sanders Price of Seneca; two brothers, Ross Sanders of Anderson, and Jerry Sanders of Seneca; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Monday, January 8 at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Entombment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

JAMES RUDOLPH KINLEY

James Rudolph Kinley, Sr., 83, of Anderson, died Thursday, January 4, 2018 at his home.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late J.T. and Beulah Kinley. He retired from Piedmont Candy and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by a sister, Faye Shirley of Piedmont; children, Darren Kinley of Delmar, MD, Jimmy Kinley of Lake Panasoffkee, FL, Deborah McEckron of Laurel, DE, Lance Kinley and LeAnne Kinley of Anderson; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Sunday, January 7 at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel.

FRANCIS EDREW “RED” SKELTON

Francis Edrew “Red” Skelton, Sr., 90, of Williamston, died Saturday, January 6, 2018.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Roy Frank and Aldie Elkansas Lowie Skelton.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, and U.S. Air Force serving in World War II and Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his children, J.R. Skelton of Alabama, Boyce Skelton of Williamston, and Carol Wilkins, of Georgia; brother, Glenn Skelton of Anderson; sister, Kathryn Feltman of Anderson; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys Skelton.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, January 9 at Williamston Church of God. Interment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

ADLINE “JUDY” FREEMAN

Adline “Judy” Freeman of Greenville, died January 3, 2018.

She was a daughter of the late Johnny Vernon and Elizabeth Blassingame Vernon.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia A. Herbert and Linda F. Downs, both of Piedmont; one son, James I. Freeman, Jr. of Greenville; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Rock Hill #1 Baptist Church. Burial was held on January 8 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
