Last Wednesday, January 30 at approximately 9 pm, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the intersection of Travis Rd. and Martin Rd. in reference to a device that had exploded.
Upon arrival deputies spoke with a witness who advised that he observed a wicker box located in the roadway of the intersection. The witness further stated that he exited his vehicle to inspect the package and as he opened the top of the box there was an explosion. The witness did receive minor lacerations to his leg and did not require medical attention.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad along with ATF and FBI are investigating this incident.
Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad Technicians are advising that anyone coming in contact with a suspicious package or device to use extreme caution. DO NOT touch, attempt to maneuver, or manipulate the package and IMMEDIATELY contact law enforcement.
