Middle School student arrested for making threats – Pendleton

Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a Pendleton middle school student for Disturbing School. On Monday, Feb. 26, an Anderson County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer was made aware of disturbing text messages that had been sent to several students at Riverside Middle School in Pendleton. The text messages were threats of great violence against the students.
As a result of this incident and upon further investigation, a 14 year old Riverside Middle School student has been charged with Disturbing Schools.
The Department of Juvenile Justice was notified and this individual was transported to the Juvenile Holding Facility in Greenville.
Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride recently announced that “students making threats thinking it is a joke, or for any other reason, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for those who are propagating fear and causing disruptions in the schools and classrooms.”
