FAYE NILSSON, WILLIAM HENRY NORRIS, JOAN SMITH CRICK, LORY N. EDGE, JACK McCONNELL, JERRY DAVIS, DR. C. LaDON BUTLER

FAYE NILSSON

PIEDMONT – Faye Bragg Nilsson, 80, wife of Walde Henry Nilsson, Jr., passed away Sunday April 8, 2018.

Born in Savannah, GA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ellis and Mildred Brewton Bragg.  She retired from Wells Aluminum. An active member of Welcome Baptist Church, she was a member of the Snow Campaign Chapter of the DAR, the National Society of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, a life member of the Jamestown Society, and the Fontaine-Maury Society.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Kimberly Faye Nilsson of Charleston, SC, and Brian Henry Nilsson of Washington D.C.; brother, Charles Bragg (Anita) of Savannah, GA; a number of nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Wednesday, April 11, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. The funeral will be Thursday, April 12, at 11:00 a.m. in the mortuary chapel, with burial to follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

WILLIAM HENRY NORRIS

William Henry Norris, 81, of Williamston, husband of Ruth Anne Wilson Norris, died Thursday, April 5, 2018 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Knoxville, TN, he was the son of the late Andrew Orlando and Dora Snipes Norris.

He retired from Piedmont Natural Gas and was a U.S. Army veteran and National Guard veteran.

He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are: sons, Andrew Norris of Pendleton and Mark Norris of Belton; daughter, Anita Norris of Belton; brother, Fred Norris of Belton.

Funeral service was held Sunday at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

JOAN SMITH CRICK

Joan Smith Crick, 69, of Greenville, died Friday, April 6, 2018 at her home.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Robert Manuel and Lois Stewart Smith.

She worked part-time for the Greenville County Medical Society and was a member of Mauldin United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, A. Wayne Crick of the home; two sons, A. Lance Crick of Greenville and Jason M. Crick of Powdersville; daughter, Kristina A. Mitros of Simpsonville; brother, Craig Manuel Smith of Easley; and five grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Monday at Mauldin United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

LORY N. EDGE

Lory Neil Morgan Edge, 84, of Piedmont, widow of Joseph Floyd Edge, died April 4, 2018 at her home.

Born in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Lory Neil Morgan and Estelle Daisy Pearson Morgan Mills. She was a retired business owner.

Surviving are two daughters, Candace Poff of Piedmont and Karen Edge of Greer; one son, Jeremy Edge of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services were held Friday, April 6 at Zoar United Methodist Church cemetery.

JACK McCONNELL

PELZER – William Dendy “Jack” McConnell, Sr., 83, husband of Barbara Ann Rogers McConnell, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Charlie Jackson and Violet Victoria Lee McConnell. Mr. McConnell was a U.S. Air Force veteran and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He is survived by his son, William Dendy McConnell, Jr. and his wife, Maria Esther Palmer McConnell, of Pineville, NC; and brother, Henry Eugene McConnell (Daisy) of Williamston.

He was predeceased by two sisters and five brothers.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 13 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, with the funeral to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

JERRY DAVIS

Jerry Allen Davis, 62, of Greer, husband of Ana Davis, died Monday, April 9, 2018 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

He was the son of the late Joe and Margaret Davis of Greenville.

He retired from Greer CPW and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are; son, Chase Davis of Greer; two daughters, Jessica and Kayla Davis of the home; two brothers, Ricky Davis of Piedmont and Wayne Davis of Greenville; and one granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 12 at Fairview Baptist Church.

DR. C. LaDON BUTLER

Dr. Carroll LaDon Butler, 81, of Belton, died Sunday, April 8, 2018.

Born in Dundee, FL, he was a son of the late George Eston and Katie Roberts Butler. A U.S. Army National Guard veteran, he retired from Butler Chiropractic Clinic in Pelzer.

He is survived by his sons, Steve Butler of Jacksonville, FL, Greg Butler of Havana, FL, Gary Butler of Anderson; brother, Dean Willis of Pace, FL; former wife and mother of his children, Phyllis Butler; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, at noon, in the chapel at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The family will greet friends following the service.
