Pig in the Park Barbecue Festival and Cookoff this Saturday

The annual Pig in the Park Barbecue Festival and Cookoff will be held Friday and Saturday, May 18-19 in Williamston’s Mineral Spring Park.
In addition to barbecue festivities, two live bands will entertain. The Larry Gillis Band will perform bluegrass on Friday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Jake Bartley Band will perform from 11 a.m to 2:30 on Saturday.
Festival and cook-off Activities will begin on Friday at 12 noon and go until 9 p.m. There will be barbecue and food sales, craft vendors and a children’s play area. On Saturday, activities begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m.

Judging of BBQ begins at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Presentation of BBQ Championship Awards will be at 2:30 p.m.
Begining at 10:45 am on Saturday, Williamston Masonic Lodge will be selling wrist bands for all-you-can-eat barbecue samples for $10.
Beginning at 11 am, the wrist band will allow you to get a two ounce sample of barbecue from each competitor at their location and will continue as long as barbecue lasts. No samples will be given out without a wrist band.
