Minor Street closed due to sink hole

A section of Minor Street near the Municipal Center and the ball fields in Williamston has been closed for since Friday due to a sink hole that has developed following heavy rains. The storm drain that passes under Minor Street has been the site of ongoing problems and repairs over the last two years as the area on the lower side continues to erode causing problems with the roadway.

Williamston Mayor Mack Durham announced the temporary closure Friday. Anderson School District One was notified as Minor Street is a major roadway used by people travelling to the schools. Anderson County is assisting the Town and Town of Williamston Public Works Director David Rogers is coordinating repairs to reopen the roadway as soon as possible, Durham said.
