CHARLES SHUPE

WILLIAMSTON – Charles Marvin Shupe, 82, husband of Rachel Sloan Shupe, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Boyd Earl and Mamie Bridgeman Shupe.  He was retired from Fabri-Kal, a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was a graduate of Greenville High School and of Mars Hill University.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Thomas Shupe (Tammie) of Simpsonville; granddaughter, Rachel Louise Shupe-Tousley (Scott); and four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Sloan, Hannah and Pierce.

Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Bethesda United Methodist Church.

Flowers were accepted, or memorials may be made to Bethesda United Methodist Men, 516 Piedmont Road, Easley, SC 29642.

WANDA POU OATES

Wanda Pou Oates, 87, of Belton, wife of Howard Oates for 66 years, died on Thursday, May 24, 2018.

She was born in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Marion Bouknight and Hortense Oglesby Pou.

She was a retired fourth grade teacher at Fork Shoals School. She was a member of Washington Baptist Church in Pelzer.

   Wanda was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by her husband of the home and her daughter, Angela M. Oates  of Sacramento, California.

Funeral services were held at Gray Mortuary on Wednesday, May 30 in the mortuary chapel. A private burial was held.

STEVEN SMITH

Steven Allen Smith, 61, of Piedmont, husband of Teresa Jane Blythe, died on Saturday, May 26, 2018.

Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Frank Jefferson Smith, Jr. and Theodosia LeCroy Smith.  He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Greenville.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Nolan James Smith, of the home and a step-daughter, Emely Elizabeth Davis of Easley; sisters, Linda Simpson, Martha Spearman, Frankie Sue Major, all of Piedmont and Katie Smith Arndt of Easley; brother Michael Smith of Piedmont; one granddaughter,

Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 29, at Gray Mortuary in the mortuary chapel.  Burial was at Shiloh United Methodist Church cemetery.

‘DANNY’ CAMPBELL

WILLIAMSTON – Daniel “Danny” L. Campbell, 66, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his home.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Rupert Jessie and Annie Madge Coker Campbell.  He was formerly employed with HomTex and a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include daughter, Stacey Campbell and sons, Robert, Eric, and Daniel Campbell.

He was predeceased by sisters, Elaine Bagwell and Barbara Burgess.

Visitation was held from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with a graveside service following at 1:00 p.m. at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

JUDY GARRETT

PELZER – Judy Lynn Garrett, 68, widow of Thomas Leon Garrett, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of Betty     Wallace and the late Bobby Joe Wallace.  She was formerly employed as the church clerk at Eastview Baptist Church, Pelzer.

She is survived by sons, Chris and Michael Garrett of Pelzer; sister, Charlotte Morgan of Woodruff; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Wednesday, May 30, from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the memorial service following at 4:30 p.m. in the mortuary chapel.

CAROL GALLITZIN

Carol Gallitzin, 82, of Greenville, widow of Don Gallitzin, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Opal Freeman Watson.

She was a member of Augusta Road Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, David Gallitzin of Piedmont; daughter, Lisa Whitaker of Greenville; and two step-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Saturday, May 26 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

VIVIAN MAHON

WEST PELZER – Vivian Hindman Mahon, 95, widow of James Wilbur Mahon, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018.

Born in West Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late John Luther and Hattie Stone Hindman.  She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and a member of Pelzer United Methodist Church.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews and was the last member of her immediate family.

A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

AUBREY LEE ‘RAT’ CLAMP

Aubrey Lee “Rat” Clamp, 84, of Belton, husband of Carolyn Fricks Clamp, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at his home.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Bert and Jesse Mitchell Clamp.

He was owner and operator of C&D Salvage and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Antreville.

Surviving in addition to his wife are; sons, Mike Clamp and Steve Clamp, both of Belton; daughters, Janet Wall of Belton and Susan Bell of Williamston; sister, Sarah Hughes of Belton; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandsons.

Graveside service was held Friday at Garden of Memories.

ROBERT LILES

Robert Leland Liles, 68, of Pelzer, husband of Elaine Pridmore Liles, died Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his home.

Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Leland Newton and Virginia Bruce Liles.         

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Christopher Justin Liles and Jeffrey Brad Liles; and three granddaughters.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

MARY ELLEN LIMBAUGH

Mary Ellen Limbaugh, 81, of Piedmont, died Saturday, May 26, 2018.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Pearl Tucker Hamby. She was of the Baptist faith.

She retired from J.P. Stevens as a machine operator.

She is survived by her children, Barry and Kay Medlin, Lisa Evatt, and Angela Limbaugh and Mike Ward; six grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; one brother, Charles Hamby; and two sisters, Macie Link and Norma Hunter.

Funeral service was held Wednesday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery, West.

JIMMY BRIDGES

James Eddie “Jimmy” Bridges, 66, of Pelzer, died Monday, May 28, 2018.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of Betty Lou Staggs Bridges, of the home, and of the late Ellis Guyton “8 Ball” Bridges. He worked for Cryovac.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by sister, Debbie Branyon of Williamston; brothers, Randy Bridges of Williamston, Jackie Bridges of Pelzer, and Larry Bridges of Williamston.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, May 30, in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
