McMaster wins Republican Primary for Governor

Incumbent Henry McMaster won the Republican Primary for governor Tuesday night, defeating businessman and political newcomer John Warren by a margin of 176,695 votes to 154,763 votes. McMaster will face Democrat James Smith in the general election.
In Anderson County, voters clearly liked Warren. He received 58.25 percent of the votes with 10,043 to McMaster’s 7,198 or only 41.75 percent.
Alan Wilson, also the incumbent, soundly defeated Todd Atwater by almost a hundred thousand votes, 211,935 to 114,298.
Wilson received 10, 509 or 63.46 percent of the vote to Atwater’s 6,051, or 36.54 percent.
In the race for Trey Gowdy’s District Four seat in Congress, Lee Bright was defeated by William Timmons 37,014 to 31,170 votes.
