Anderson County Public Works Department reported the following projects underway across Anderson County:
· PERMITS SUBMITTED: 10 Single-Family Dwellings; 4 Addition/Renovation; 6 Detached Garage/Accessory Buildings; 1 Swimming Pool; 3 Demolition; 3 Poultry Houses; 22 Electrical and HVAC Upgrades including 10 Residential Solar; 9 Commercial Including: Heritage Pediatrics Addition, Power Trac Addition, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Addition, Electrical Service to Entrance Sign to Magnolia Farms, Electrical Service to Existing Building for Stoney Brook LLC, Electrical to Free Standing Sign, New Sign for Anderson Motor Speedway, Electrical for Rectifier for Piedmont Natural Gas, Electrical Service Reconnection Inspection to Existing Building; 9 Mobile Home permits including: New Homes, Change of Ownership, moves from other counties, change of location, etc.

· Anderson County Citizens Advisory Committee for District 7 will meet on Wednesday August 1, 2018 at 6:30pm to hear a variance located at 213 Vinings Crossing, Belton

·        Information received from SCDHEC on construction and debris recycling landfill located at
True Temper Road, Smyth and Woodard Street, Broadway Lake Road.
·        New Dollar Tree located on Highway 153 (former Rite Aid building), Powdersville.
·        Exxon Mobile Improvements located at Highway 29N, Belton.
·        Boat Storage expansion located at 6224 Highway 24.
·        SCDOT Official conference call on Billboard Permitting I-85 Interchange.
· LAND USE PERMITS APPROVED:
o US Auto Sales located on Frampton Street, Anderson
o R&G Used Cars located at 2300 Whitner Street, Anderson
· GRADING PERMITS APPROVED:

· BUFFERYARD INSPECTIONS:
o Ingles Powdersville received $43,750 cash bond for landscaping completion.
· COMPLIANCE ISSUES:
o Mobile home located over the property line located on Five Forks Road, Anderson.
o Illegal business located on 2860 Concord Road, Anderson.
o Abandoned Commercial Site located at 721 Autumn Lane.
Fleet Services

Roads & Bridges
· Vegetation Crew worked on clearing trees from the roadway and cleaning up debris. Grading Crew is continuing work on Shiloh Church Road East Project where they are replacing a bridge with a large culvert.
· Approved plans for Barrington Creek Subdivision.
· Reviewed preliminary plat for Grove at Oak Trail Subdivision.
· 6 Vacancies: (1) Engineering Tech., (1) Laborer, (1) Heavy Equipment Operator, (1) Heavy Equipment Operator –pending, (1) Mower Operator – pending, and (1) Laborer – pending.
· On-Call Crew received 17 after-hours call-outs for a total of 72 man-hours: 16 fallen trees and one down stop sign.
Stormwater
· A spillway gate at Broadway Lake was opened one night after a strong storm moved through the area around 9 pm. 2.25 inches of rain fell over part of the area.
· Staff attended the quarterly meeting of the Anderson and Pickens Counties Stormwater Partners at SC DNR’s Clemson office to decide what types of water pollution will be targeted in upcoming public education programming. The top 3 pollutants identified were bacteria, sediment, and litter.
· The pre-construction conference for Attenborough Townhomes was held. The site is off of River Road near Hwy 153 in Powdersville.
· Received new application for Taylor Wood Products – Mulch Storage.
· Reviews were conducted for Ace Solar (2nd) and Whitt Solar (2nd).
Solid Waste
· Staff met with Joyce Engineering to work on a cleanup plan for the VIVA Tire Recycling site in the Homeland Park area.
· Staff met with DHEC to discuss the VIVA Tire Recycling property and showed pictures of the site. There will be a major cost in cleaning up the site in which we will be looking for DHEC waste tire grant money to clean the property up.
· Environmental Enforcement is working the area around Ashwood Lane to clean up litter and to work with Roads & Bridges about right of way issues caused by the builders.
· Environmental Enforcement continue to work the area of the corner of Simpson Rd. and Calhoun St. to get an open storage issues cleaned up.
· Environmental Enforcement educated residents on covering their loads and on littering at the Carswell, King David and Whitefield Convenience Centers.
· Did You Know? The Container Recycling Institute estimates that the 36 billion aluminum cans landfilled last year had a scrap value of more than $600 million.
Wastewater
· Town of Iva’s running balance is $742,997.51.
· The pump station crew installed the repaired pump at Benton Park, the pump was sent to a local repair shop because of a bad seal.
· Held a mandatory Pre-Bid meeting for new sewer service to be installed at the Arthrex Site. Six Contractors attended and sealed bids will be opened on 7/26.
· Construction meeting was held for the Betsy Tucker Project to affirm substantial completion of the project. Anderson County and the Design Engineers are to meet next week to provide the contractor with a final punch list for the project so that final completion can be issued.
· The 5 Mile project is nearing substantial completion as discussed during the construction progress meeting that was held on Wednesday with the site superintendent and project manager. Testing on the remainder of the project is to take place at the beginning of next week.
· The ROW crew completed cutting the Piedmont area and currently cutting in the Iva area.
· There were no after hour calls.
