Five County, Two State Chase

Anderson County deputies along with deputies from Hart and Franklin County Georgia and Georgia state troopers work at the scene where a chase ended Saturday night. The chase began in Anderson County, went into Greenville county before coming through Piedmont. The pursuit started after the suspect nearly struck a deputy at a public safety check point. The suspect, driving a pickup truck, got onto I-85 south from Highway 86. Deputies deployed stop sticks at Highway 81 on I-85 and the truck ran over them. At least one tire

went flat. More stop sticks were deployed near Liberty Highway and were also struck. The chase continued into Georgia where Georgia authorities did a PIT maneuver, also called a controlled stop near Carnesville. The suspect was taken into custody. The chase went through Anderson, Greenville, and Oconee counties in SC and Hart and Franklin counties in Georgia. (Photo by David Rogers)
