A man who shot at Greenville County Deputies after shooting another person was fatally injured when deputies returned fire. According to reports, Deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office responded to 217 Murrell Road lot #48 Sunday after a man called 911 claiming he was being poisoned. Once deputies arrived on scene, they attempted to make contact at the door and after identifying themselves, a man inside claimed to have a gun and started yelling. Deputies took cover and heard a gunshot from inside before the man came outside and began discharging rounds. The man then pointed the gun at deputies at which time at least one deputy returned fire, striking the man. The subject was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Deputies discovered that the subject had shot a female, who was inside with him. She suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. No deputies were injured as a result of the incident. SLED agents responded to the scene and are investigating the officer involved shooting.
