The public is invited to join local and county law enforcement May 15, at 6 p.m. at the Anderson County Courthouse for the annual Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service. There will be a blue light motorcade from the Anderson Mall to the Anderson County Courthouse, leaving the mall at 5:45 p.m.. All law enforcement agencies in Anderson County will be represented in the services said Chip Welborn 2nd Vice President, Anderson FOP Lodge 10. “As you are aware, officer deaths are on the rise, with a total of 150 in 2018 who gave the ultimate sacrifice for all of us,” Welborn said. “This is a special opportunity for us to stay, “You are not forgotten” to the surviving family members. This is a time for us to prove to these family members that “You are not forgotten” is not just an uttered phrase to fallen officer’s family members, but is actually followed through on.”
Anyone who would like to show their support for law enforcement is invited to attend. In case of bad weather the service will be held in the Council Chambers of the old Anderson Courthouse across the street.
