The Palmetto Business Association, The Town Of Williamston, and Envision Williamston, in cooperation with local businesses, are sponsoring a fun summer event called “Bobbers on Big Creek.” The event includes  a “bobber race” in Big Creek with fun and prizes for the top three winners. Starting June 15, when visiting participating local businesses, a special sticker will be available to shoppers who spend $10 or more, to get a “sticker” for a numbered bobber to enter into the race on Saturday, June 29. The more you shop, the more bobbers you can receive. Stickers must be brought to the race which will be held in Mineral Spring Park as part of the Freedom Celebration activities on June 29. Bobber race registration will begin at 3 p.m. at the Hwy. 20 Main St. bridge over the creek. A registration table will be set up along Mineral Spring Trail which passes under the bridge.  The start line for the Bobber Race will be under the Main Street Bridge and the finish line will be in the Veterans Park.  The race will begin at 4 and you must be present to win. Look for participating businesses to get your bobber sticker and bring it to enter a bobber in the race Saturday afternoon. Come enjoy the fun as hundreds of bobbers make their way down Big Creek, then stick around for fireworks and music in downtown Williamston.
