The official kickoff of the Pelzer Master Plan will take place on June 27, and will be a day long effort to gather input from various groups and individuals about the potential future of the town.
A partnership of the town of Pelzer, The Pelzer Heritage Commission, Friends of Pelzer, the Palmetto Business Association and Anderson County will follow the lead of MKSK, a planning consulting firm from Greenville, as they conduct a series of round table sessions designed to gather input and information from various sectors of the community.
The focus of the effort will be an analysis of the actual physical environment, as well as an assessment of the town’s economic potential. The information gathered will be reviewed and evaluated, and incorporated into possible strategies for the town.
The morning hours will be restricted to the planning team and various officials touring the town to give the consulting team hands on knowledge. Beginning at one pm. A roundtable discussion with various elected officials will take place for ninety minutes. That session will be followed from 2:30 till 4:00 by a session with stakeholders in the arts and culture community. The final roundtable, beginning at 4:00, will focus on the business community and economic development. The public is invited to attend any of the roundtable sessions during the day.
Finally, the public will be welcomed for a roundtable discussion of their own, from six till eight. The information gathered will be digested and a final report issued in the next couple of months.
The day’s events will take place at the Pelzer Community Building.
