West Pelzer community enjoys National Night Out

The Town of West Pelzer hosted a National Night Out at Chapman Park Tuesday. The event included music, informative displays, inflatables, food and interaction with fire and police departments. (Pictured – Children enjoyed an old fashion cake walk and playing on the playground at the park.) There was an old fashion tug-of-war competition between the West Pelzer Fire Department and West Pelzer Fire Department with help from the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. The firefighters won the best in the two out of three friendly competition. The West Pelzer Fire Department demonstrated techniques they use to free victims from a wrecked vehicle and had fire trucks on display. Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride, Lt. David Baker – Director of the Emergency Management Division, House Dist. 9 Rep. Anne Thayer and Miss Piedmont Teen Piper Holt were among those at the event. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. The event was sponsored by the West Pelzer Crime Watch and local businesses.

Tug-of-War
