According to a news release from the Anderson County Office of the Coroner, the Coroner’s office is investigating the three vehicle motor vehicle accident that resulted in one death. The collision occurred on Firetower Road near Hickory Road in Williamston around 12 p.m on Sunday, August 11. Pelzer EMS, Anderson County Fire Department, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene and found a motorcycle that was struck by Ford pick-up truck. Another vehicle (SUV) was also involved in the collision that resulted in injuries to the vehicle occupants. The victim who was driving the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to Anderson County Deputy Coroner Josh Shore, the driver of the motorcycle has been identified as Phillip Cordell Wall, 59, of Williamston. The victim sustained multiple blunt force traumatic injuries and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The investigation indicates the driver of the motorcycle was heading north on Firetower Road and appears to have been struck head-on by the Ford tuck heading south, after the truck crossed the center line and struck the motorcycle.
