Three arrested following armed robbery investigation

Williamston police have arrested three people following an investigation into a recent armed robbery which took place at a residence on Mauldin Street last Tuesday.
According to the Williamston Police Department, on Aug. 13, between 10:50 p.m. and 11 p.m. two individuals visiting 224 Mauldin Street were robbed at gunpoint. Cash, a cellphone, a smartwatch, and a Texas Driver’s License were taken from the victims. Police began an investigation resulting in the issuance and service of a search warrant on Thursday, (Aug. 15) at the residence.
Through cooperation of the victims, witnesses, the community, and the teamwork of the Williamston Police Department, the suspect was identified and located at the residence at 224 Mauldin Street. A firearm and the phone believed to be taken during the robbery were also recovered.
While executing the search warrant police discovered methamphetamine, marijuana, and numerous items of paraphernalia used to ingest drugs and also manufacture controlled substances.
Joel Lee Stewart, 35, 456 Looper Road, Pelzer, was charged with Armed Robbery and Operating a Drug House; Two others, Courteney Nicole Carlson, 21, 224 Mauldin Street,Williamston and Nicholas Adam Scyphers, 28, 224 Mauldin Street, Williamston were charged with Operating a Drug House
“It is our belief that the removal of guns and drugs as well as the abolishment of the use of this location as a drug house will make Williamston a safer community,” said Captain Kevin Marsee of the Williamston Police Department.
