The Town of Williamston will place a plaque in honor of Jean Taylor on the covered bridge in Mineral Spring Park during the Spring Water Festival Saturday. A special ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. to unveil the plaque on the bridge which is  a favorite place she likes to sit. Taylor’s popular social media page “I’m from Williamston” has items of interest and photos related to the Williamston area. Mayor Mack Durham said was recognition for the “good works you have done providing a positive voice in our community.”
The footbridge that crosses Big Creek will become known as the Jean Taylor bridge. This footbridge has been the focal point for the last few years of the many great posts on the “I’m From Williamston” Facebook page and other places, about the happenings in our town.   “Taylor has been instrumental in making our town visible to the outside world, and has done that with such a great and positive attitude, coupled with her love and dedication to the town that she so dearly loves…” said Debbie Chapman with the Town of Williamston.
“She has truly exemplified the meaning of “building a sense of community”…
The permanent plaque will display the spirit of her love for Williamston.
