Powdersville firefighters along with Pelzer EMS work at the scene after a moped driver was struck by a fleeing car early Sunday morning on Anderson Road. According to the Anderson County Sheriffs Office, deputies responded to the QT in Powdersville for a shoplifting incident. A deputy arrived on scene and the suspects fled in a Chrysler 300 that has been reportedly used in multiple shoplifting cases in the area. The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, which had been stolen during a carjacking in Atlanta. The suspects then failed to stop for the deputy’s blue lights.

The suspect vehicle, while trying to elude the deputy struck a moped in Powdersville and wrecked a short time later in Greenville County. The suspects then fled on foot from deputies. One of the Anderson County Deputies was injured while taking one of the suspects into custody. He was transported to GHS for treatment of any injuries.

The driver was arrested and a k-9 was deployed to track the passenger suspect but were unable to locate. The suspect driver is facing a multitude of charges from ACSO and SCHP who is investigating the suspect’s collision with the moped.(Photo by David Rogers)
