The Anderson County Delinquent Property Tax Sale will be held Monday, October 21, 2019 at the City of Anderson Recreation Center, located at 1107 North Murray Avenue. Anderson County property owners who have past due or unpaid taxes on their property, have until the day of the tax sale to pay delinquent taxes on their property or it will be sold at public auction to the highest bidder. Both real estate and mobile homes will be auctioned on this date.

Properties throughout the county, including the municipalities, have been advertised in The Journal, Belton News Chronicle and Anderson Independent Oct. 2, 9 and final publication next week, Oct. 16. (Pick up a copy of The Journal at area news stands or subscribe for the online edition to see if your name is on the list)

Registration for bidders begins at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 21. In an effort to expedite the bidder registration process, Anderson County Treasurers Office is offering participants the option to pre-register online. Bidders can go to the County website at www.andersoncountysc.org and select the link “Tax Sale 2019 Bidder Registration”.
There is also a link on the website to view images of all items which remain delinquent. This link is titled “Tax Sale 2019 Property Map”.
All sales are final and no refunds will be issued. All property is sold “as is, where is.”
Each opening bid consists of all delinquent tax, penalties and fees due to Anderson County and/or municipalities for tax year 2018, the current 2019 tax amount and the expense of the tax sale.
The owner of a delinquent property has the opportunity to pay the tax up until the time the property is announced for bid.
Successful bidders can not take possession of the property until a one year redemption period has expired and a tax deed is issued from Anderson County, or a bill of sale/right of possession document in the case of a mobile home.
The purchase of a parcel of land that contains a separately taxed mobile home does not include the mobile home.
In the case of an owner having multiple delinquent properties, only sufficient property will be sold to satisfy the total amount due.
Items offered but not purchased will be available from the Anderson County Treasurer’s Office beginning at 8:30 a.m. October 31.
Email requests can be sent to dsullivan@andersoncoutnysc.org or jphillips@andersoncountysc.org.
