LINDA HEDDEN SIMMONS

August 5, 1942 –

November 23, 2019

Linda Hedden Simmons, 77, of the Cheddar Community of Belton, SC, and wife of the late Calvin Gerald Simmons, died Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

Born in Greenville, SC on August 5, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Joe Allen Hedden and Mary Lou Jordan Hedden.

She retired from The Timken Company after many years of service. She was of the Christian faith.

She is survived by her daughters, Lee Morris, Lynn Ellison (Ronnie) and Lisa Morgan (Jackie), 5 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jo Francis Bishop, and her brother, Jim Hedden.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, SC.

The family received friends at the graveside following the service.

TAMMY R. THOMPSON

PIEDMONT – Tammy R. Thompson, 55, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2019.

Born in Greenville County, a daughter of James Clifton Thompson and the late Audrey Durham Thompson, she was a Wren High School graduate and an operator for Bell South for fourteen years. Tammy was a member of Siloam Baptist Church in Easley. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, her dogs, and spending time with her family.

Surviving, in addition to her father, are a son, Andrew Clifton Thompson of Piedmont; and a sister, Cheryl Williams (Vincent) of Athens, GA.

She was predeceased by her mother and a nephew, Matthew Glen Theiling.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. Burial followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

The family received friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at the funeral home.

GEORGE RIDGEWAY

WILLIAMSTON – George Anthony Ridgeway, 73, husband of Mary Darlene Finley Ridgeway, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late J.Q. and Ruby Jeanes Ridgeway. He retired from Duke Energy after forty-five years of service and was a member of Williamston First Baptist Church where he served as a former chairman of the deacons, chairman of the building committee and a Sunday school teacher. He was also a mason.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, LTC  David A. Ridgeway (Kim) of Anderson; daughters, Donna Ridgeway Carver (William) of Anderson and Suzanne Ridgeway Winner (Matthew) of Pelzer; brother, Lewis Ridgeway (Ann) of Augusta, GA; sisters, Jonnie Elgin (Bill) of Honea Path and Jane Jordan (Don) of Simpsonville; and thirteen grandchildren.

He was predeceased by sister, Patricia McDaniel.

Visitation was from 12:30 to 2:00 pm Saturday, November 23, at Williamston First Baptist Church. The service followed at 2:00 pm in the church. Burial was at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

MIKE EDENS

James Michael “Mike” Edens, 67, of Piedmont, husband of Melinda Suzanne “Sue” Lindsey Edens, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019.

Born in Williamston, he was a son of Dawn Elizabeth Wise Edens of Titusville, FL and the late Wesley Alexander “Buck” Edens. He was employed with Solvay (Cytec) and a member of Simpsonville Church of God and Conestee Assembly of God.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Michelle Grey of Simpsonville and Karen Cody of Piedmont; sons, Shawn and Christopher Edens, both of Piedmont; brothers, David Edens of Titusville, FL and Tom Edens of Cocoa, FL; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Saturday, November 23, at Conestee Assembly of God. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens, followed by A Celebration of Life at the church.

JANET WEST

Janet Ruth McCarter West, 85, of Williamston, wife of the late Manuel “Jack” West, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.

Born in Odon, IN, she was a daughter of the late Carlos Daniel and Irma Lavonne Hastings McCarter. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint, MI for seven years and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Lynn Shaw of Pickens and Julie Ann Johnson of Williamston; sisters, Sue Ann Diehl of Davison, MI and Charlene Lavonne Bernethy of Twin Lake, MI; brother, Charles Lewis McCarter of Flint, MI; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

No services are planned at this time.

ROY ‘BUD’ BROWN, SR.

Roy Earl “Bud” Brown, Sr., 75, of Piedmont, passed away Friday, November 22, 2019.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late James Newton and Pearl Hammond Brown. He retired from Solvay Specialty Polymers USA, LLC and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church.

He is survived by son, Roy Earl Brown, Jr. of Williamston; twin sister, Willie Pearl Brown of Laurens; sister, Kathy Sue Bagwell of Laurens; brother, Ronnie L. Brown of Easley; and three grandchildren.

A memorial was held Monday, November 25 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

JANICE STYLES

Janice Thomas Styles, 89, of Pelzer, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2019.

Born in Yancy County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Essie Woody Thomas. She retired from Gerber and was a member of Pelzer First Baptist Church.

Survivors include son, Stan Styles of Westminster; daughter, Sharon Meeks of Williamston; sister, Earlene Pearce of Pelzer; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A visitation was held on Monday, November 25,  at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

CAROLYN SUE BOSTICK

Carolyn Sue Bostick, 80, of Piedmont, wife of the late Herman “Bud” Bostick, passed away on November 10, 2019.

Born in Wooster, OH, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ruth Miracle.

She is survived by her sons: James Bostick of Concord Township, OH, Mark Bostick) of Holmes Beach, FL and Matthew Bostick of Easley; and three grandchildren.

They will be buried together at the Salem Friends Church in Liberty, IN next summer.
