In a very brief meeting, the Anderson County Council re-elected District Five Councilman Tommy Dunn to his sixth consecutive term as Council chairman, and his eighth overall. Dunn has largely overseen the economic growth in the county over the last decade, which has seen unemployment drop by double digits.
District Two Councilwoman Gracie Floyd declined to vote for Dunn, with whom she has clashed in the past, accusing him of abusing his power and restricting her participation in discussions. Floyd, however, did not nominate anyone to oppose Dunn.
District Four Councilman Brett Sanders was elected as Vice Chairman, and received Floyd’s vote.
