UPDATED – The Williamston Police Department is investigating a armed robbery in the parking lot at the Family Dollar Store in Williamston Tuesday. According to Captain Kevin Marsee, the victim was robbed at knifepoint of an undisclosed amount of cash Tuesday between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. Captain Marsee said the suspect left the scene on foot and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office brought in a K9 unit, which tracked the suspect toward Duckworth Drive. He may have been on Belton Drive on foot also, Marsee said. The suspect is described as an African American male with dreadlocks wearing a red shirt and jeans. Investigators are currently working the case and are asking the public for assistance.
