GCSO warns of SCAM

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of an age old SCAM resurfacing involving callers contacting people in the community and representing themselves as deputies. The scammers are telling people that they have missed jury duty and must “pay a fine” to avoid an arrest warrant being issued against them.
“Please note that this is a SCAM and the Sheriff’s Office will NEVER solicit money over the phone for any reason whatsoever,” said Lieutenant Ryan Flood, Public Information Officer with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office
“If you receive a phone call suggesting otherwise, please hang up and report them to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office at 864-467-5300.”
