Saluda River at Pelzer dam

Saluda River at Pelzer Dam during heavy rains in the area Thursday afternoon around 3 p.m. Greenville County Deputies were dispatched to the area to check on a report of vehicles stopping on the Hwy. 8 bridge to look at the high water.  They had no reports of evacuation or problems with the dam. According to the National Weather Service, at 3 p.m. the river was at minor flood level at 11.72 feet. At 4 p.m. the river was forecast to crest at 12.5 feet and drop from there. Flood level is at 12 ft. The last time the river was near the current level at Pelzer was on 07/08/2005 when it reached 12.22 ft.
