AnMed Health restricting patient visitation and visiting hours after two patients tested positive for COVID-19 at AnMed Health Sunday.
AnMed Health released the following statement:
AnMed Health is committed to providing the highest quality care and ensuring the safety of our patients, employees, providers, volunteers and visitors. We are continuing to work closely with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) and following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as it relates to the evolving coronavirus situation in our community.
As of March 15, AnMed Health has had two patients test presumptive positive for COVID-19. They are in isolation at AnMed Health. Following DHEC and CDC protocol, AnMed Health has been prepared with the appropriate plans to detect, protect and respond to COVID-19.
We are asking visitors not to visit the hospital as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19. For the health of AnMed Health patients, visitors, health care providers and the community, we ask that people do not visit our health care system including the Medical Center at 800 N Fant Street, the North Campus and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital mom/baby unit and AnMed Health Cannon. We are also scaling back visiting hours to 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. instead of 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
While these restrictions on visitors are significant and may pose a temporary inconvenience, we think they are appropriate for the situation at hand and do not require a lockdown of our facility for those seeking care.
We understand that in some cases a visitation is required, so please be mindful of the following:
·         Please limit visitors to one adult per patient at any time. Visitors may be subject to a temperature check and verbal screening.
·         Please do not bring children under the age of 16 to hospital visits.
·         Please wash your hands frequently.
·         Please do not visit the hospital if you have symptoms of the flu or respiratory problems.
We are proud of the dedicated team at AnMed Health for following our Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) preparedness plans for responding to disasters and infectious disease outbreaks.
We want to assure our community that it is safe to come to AnMed Health should you need care. For more information, visit AnMedHealth.org.
