Pelzer Mayor Roger Scott passed away Friday. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 1:45 p.m. Monday, March 16, at the Pelzer Church of God with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
The Town of Pelzer released the following statement: The Town of Pelzer mourns the loss of our friend and mayor, Roger Scott, Sr. We were all praying for his recovery, and his passing has brought great sadness over our town. Pelzer won’t quite be the same without him, but his memory will certainly live on. We know that he is now at peace in a better place. We ask that our community please continue to pray for his wife, Karen, and his family during this most difficult time.

Mayor Roger “Dink” Scott, Sr.

August 05, 1949 – March 13, 2020

Mayor Roger Dale “Dink” Scott, Sr., 70, husband of Karen Jordan Scott, passed away Friday, March 13, 2020.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Cecil Scott and Hester Elizabeth Reese Calvert. He was a retired judge and a member of Pelzer Church of God where he was a former member of the Pastor’s Council and the church band. He was also a Mason and a Shriner.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Cindy Whitlock (Tony) of Iva and son, Roger Scott, Jr. (Tonya) of Williamston; brother, Steve Scott (Mandy) of Pelzer; grandchildren, Jordan Smith (Kristy), Brett Whitlock (Savannah), Koti Keown (Justin), Megan Scott, Skylar Scott, Hunter Ragsdale, Haley Ragsdale; great-grandchildren, August Smith, Atticus Whitlock, Brayden Scott, Brooks Smith, Zane Stargel and two on the way; and the citizens of Pelzer who are all like family to him.

He was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Joe Scott.

Visitation will be from 12:00 – 1:45 p.m. Monday, March 16, at the Pelzer Church of God with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church.

A private burial will be held.

The family is at the home.
