Pelzer Election postponed

Due to the coronavirus concerns, Governor Henry McMaster recently announced the postponement of all March and April elections. Local elections affected include Pelzer Special Election, City of Anderson Election and Due West Special Election.  Affected elections will be rescheduled to occur after May 1 and specific dates will be announced at a later date.
Three people signed up to run for mayor in the Special Election that was to be held Tuesday, March 31 in Pelzer. Voters will decide on a new mayor and one councilmember.
Candidates signed up include: Mayor – Will Ragland, Harold Tennihill and Margaret Jamison.
For the one seat on Council – Gary “Garbo” Pridmore, Donna Ides and David Hatley.
People desiring to vote in the upcoming election must be registered by March 1, 2020.  To register, contact the County Board of Voter Registration.
The special election being held is to fill vacancies following announcement of the resignations of Councilwoman Olene Bear and Mayor Roger Scott.
