Hwy. Patrol investigating Hwy. 20 wreck after GCSO traffic stop

The SC Highway Patrol is investigating a collision on Hwy. 20, Piedmont following a traffic stop by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday. According to the GCSO, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on Stables Road near Sagitairus Way for a traffic violation. As the deputy exited his patrol car and began his approach, the suspect vehicle fled the scene. The deputy did not engage in a vehicle pursuit and let the suspect vehicle get completely out of sight before he drove off. Other deputies who were working in that same area came across the collision that had occurred on Highway 20. Deputies rendered first aid to all of the injured. One deputy who is a certified paramedic performed advanced life-saving measures on the most critically injured. According to the GCSO, a witness reported on a local television channel that he had heard shots being fired, however there were no shots fired during the incident.
