SCDHEC Update – Aug. 16, 2020

On Sunday (Aug. 9) the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) reported 537 new confirmed cases and 16 new probable cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19. DHEC also reported 9 additional confirmed deaths and no new probable deaths.

This brings the total number of confirmed deaths in the state due to COVID-19 to 2,165, and 104 probable deaths.

 

As of Saturday, a total of 929,805 tests have been conducted in the state.
The total number of individual test results reported to DHEC Saturday statewide was 4,886 (not including antibody tests) and the percent positive was 11.0%.

Cases are reported based on the person’s county of residence, as it is provided to the department.

Weekend Update

Aug. 15 – DHEC reported 986 new confirmed cases and 22 new probable cases of the novel coronavirus. DHEC reported 51 additional confirmed deaths and 6 new probable deaths, bringing the total confirmed deaths to 2,156, and 104 probable deaths.

The total number of individual test results reported to DHEC yesterday statewide was 6,012 (not including antibody tests) and the percent positive was 16.4%.

Hospital bed usage and other information usually included in the DHEC news release is now being left out, however it is available on the DHEC website.

Aug. 14 – DHEC reported 1,015 new confirmed cases and 20 new probable cases of COVID-19. DHEC also reported 16 additional confirmed deaths and 3 new probable deaths.

The total number of individual test results reported to DHEC statewide was 6,763 (not including antibody tests) and the percent positive was 15.0%.
